“The announcement came during a press conference Saturday morning, August 24, 2024. … Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are now scheduled to return to Earth in February 2025 aboard the SpaceX Dragon 9 crew capsule.” Don’t allow them to gaslight you. 🔭 earthsky.org/spaceflight/...

Ever since visiting the southernmost point in the continental US, I’ve wanted to visit the actual southernmost point in the US. This month I was able to do just that. youtube.com/watch?v=0vcC...

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH** * Currently paused by Executive Order ** Grant reviews now all canceled www.kcur.org/news/2025-01...

Remember the mini-moon we had last fall? Turns out it likely really was a mini piece of the moon ejected during a past impact. 🔭 earthsky.org/space/earth-...

Just in case you were wondering! Lock in!

Saturday’s sunset from the southernmost point in the U.S. 🌎 #KaLae #Hawaii

I saw my first fogbow! And then I saw another one! Haleakala is a special place. ❤️🌋

Sun halo today with a glimpse of the circumzenithal arc at the very top. 🔭 One of the good things to come out of cold winter days. ❤️☀️❄️

We got ourselves a G4 geomagnetic storm at the moment with a Kp8. Quite a bang to start the new year! 🔭 Of course it’s daylight and cloudy where I live so… 🤷‍♀️

2024 was an incredible year for stargazers. 🔭

I read and listened to 111 books this year. Some 5 star reads in that stack. #booksky

Happy Winter Solstice to 90% of you! Happy Summer Solstice to the rest. ❄️☀️ 🔭

Some of the "drones" in former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan's video were found to be stars in the constellation Orion - NYT

Saddened to learn that Laurie Allen Klein, the illustrator of my children’s picture book Solar System Forecast, recently died of lung cancer. She was a fantastic, prolific artist: www.goodreads.com/author/list/...

Four times in the past week Daichi Fujii has caught meteors hitting the moon. Could these be Geminids? 🔭 earthsky.org/space/are-ge...

Circumzenithal arc … achievement unlocked! 🔓 Every time I see a sun dog I look above the sun for the circumzenithal arc, and I finally spotted one!

☄️🚨‼️Incoming! For only the 11th time ever (and 4th time this year) we’ve spotted an asteroid before it hits Earth. 🔭

Recently finished reading The Dog Stars by Peter Heller. Really good post-apocalyptic book, but I don’t remember the last time I had so much anxiety while reading! 📚 #books #reading

A pair of recent photos, 20 minutes apart. The Belt of Venus appears at sunset. 🔭

I can’t get enough books lately. I want to read and listen to books every free moment. Books, BOOKS, BOOOOKS!

Took a walk through a swamp this morning. Saw 2 gators, a raccoon, a great blue heron, a belted kingfisher, a red-shouldered hawk and fresh panther scat. 😆

I had long wanted to visit Antelope Canyon, and I finally got the chance this summer. It was beautiful. Outside the canyon it was brutally hot but inside it was cool and peaceful/ youtube.com/shorts/TH3eb...

Galileo says hello. #CatsofBlueSky 🔭🐈

Hello! *taps microphone* Is this thing on? We're here! And we can't wait to share the universe with you. 🔭⭐🌌🌘🧪

Check out this view of Earth and the moon, and then picture all the other planets in the solar system wedged between us. Love a good visual of Earth from space 🔭🧪 earthsky.org/todays-image...
