We live in an age when commercial spacecraft are flying around the Moon and we're getting views of our homeworld like this one. Simply incredible. View from Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander, scheduled to touch down Sunday in Mare Crisium on the Moon! Credit: @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social

i'm tired of being told to stop doomscrolling. i'm just scrolling, it's not my fault there's doom on there

Do yourself a favour and open up this photo. Indulge in the absurd beauty of comets. This is Comet C/2021 A1 Leonard, photographed by Michael JΓ€ger in 2021. The tail, millions of km long, shows a region of greater density from when part of the comet nucleus disintegrated about 10 days before.

This is one of my most favourite photos of Saturn. The small icy moon Mimas, floating in space above the giant planet itself, crossed by shadows of Saturn's vast ring system. NASA Photojournal image PIA06176, taken by the Cassini spacecraft on 18 January 2005.

Well, we finally let down our guard one too many times and after 2.5 years since my and @astrosherie.space's first round of COVID, it's finally caught us a second time ... really didn't miss feeling this sick πŸ€§πŸ€’πŸ˜«

Truly a stunning tail on this comet, as seen by our @esa.int / NASA SOHO/LASCO camera! πŸ˜β˜€οΈπŸ”β˜„οΈ

After @astrosherie.space and I lost our beloved Katniss earlier this month, we decided to adopt this beautiful furbaby that we've named Katie...already now known as also Katie-Kat, Katie Cane, Katie the Koala & the Velveteen Rabbit (very soft)! She is scared but sweet & has claimed the linen closet!

Sadly, @atmocheryl.space & I had to say goodbye to our sweet, beautiful Katniss last night. She was 14 and battling recent lymphoma. She had the best purrs & adorable cheeps & saw us through 3 moves, our B.S. degrees & a million memories. She's completely irreplaceable & we will miss her forever! πŸŒˆπŸ˜‡

LOL love this so much! Here are my and @astrosherie.space's girls! Katniss on the left and Kenzie on the right - not a brain cell between the two of them (what did you expect, they're orange?!) #CatsOfBluesky ... Credit to @daralind.bsky.social ✨

Just for fun? What's the oldest song in your Christmas collection (if you listen to Christmas music)? @astrosherie.space & I listen to lots of modern songs but we do have several in our list from the 1950's, one of the oldest is Kay Starr's "The Man with the Bag" πŸŽ…, still one of our very favorites!

AHHHHH it’s finally time!!! I just published my exclusive interview with the one and only Dr. Jill Tarter, founder of @setiinstitute.bsky.social, renowned astronomer, and the inspiration behind Ellie Arroway’s character in Carl Sagan’s Contact πŸ‘½

Lucy had a successful Earth Gravity Assist a few hours ago. What does that mean? There's no turning back now; we are officially on our way to the Trojans! Next "stops" asteroid Donaldjohanson in Apr. 2025, and Trojan Eurybates in Aug. 2027. I can't describe how excited I am! πŸ₯³πŸ§ͺπŸ”πŸš€πŸ›°οΈ whereislucy.space

HUGE congrats to the NASA Nancy Grace Roman Telescope team on achieving a Major Milestone: the Instrument Payload Assembly (IPA) is complete! Screen grab from twitter - and here's the official NASA link for more details: go.nasa.gov/3DdTRfV

After several months of climbing up the steep slopes of the Jezero crater rim, Perseverance has reached the top! The afternoon sun provides a spectacular view on landscape which the rover will explore soon! πŸ” Full panorama: www.360cities.net/image/marsro... Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Simeon Schmauß

New #NASA press release on the investigation into Ingenuity’s 🚁 final flight and what may have caused the damage: πŸ§ͺ #PlanetaryScience

Got to see the launch of this cool mission in 2021 w/ @astrosherie.space - awesome to see it swing back around again! At 11:15 pm, Dec 12, Lucy will make its closest approach... about 220 miles above the ocean west of CA... and will streak over N. America in only 7 minutes! youtu.be/lIhF82kVjzk?...

obsessed with NCIS Origins... It's darker, broodier, and digging into all the right places, this 1 episode per week thing is killing @atmocheryl.space and I though

Bam! πŸ’₯

A new JWST deep field. All the eight-sided features are local stars in the Milky Way. Everything else is a galaxy. EVERYTHING ELSE IS A GALAXY.

Between full-time work and #FinalExams this week, @atmocheryl.space and I are 😩 ... This Space Power final might just kill us lol

Question: What 2025 aviation, defense, or space event are you most looking forward to attending in person?

Remembering this 2022 study that found that universal health care in the US could have saved 330,000 lives in the early days of covid. It could also have saved us $105 billion -- ON TOP of the annual $438 billion we could save in non-pandemic years. www.scientificamerican.com/article/univ...

I absolutely LOVE reading these Annual Reports that #NASAKennedy publishes - full of their accomplishments, lots of gorgeous photos, & interesting articles 🀩 If you've never read one before, I highly recommend taking a look at the new 2024 edition! Download at this link: www.nasa.gov/kennedy/abou...

Happy #Caturday from our sweet angel Katniss who is still here with us! 🧑 She's had a bit of a struggle lately but we've been working with her vet closely to determine the best ways to help her out & to help make other decisions when it's time. Just grateful for each day & every purr! #CatsOfBluesky

I will never stop being sad that rewriting the alt text for a badly described gif does not permanently replace it's poorly thought and woefully unimaginative verbiage

Decided to make a little lateral shift in our grad programs to Space Systems Management, so @astrosherie.space and I will be taking Spacecraft Environment, Commercial Enterprise in Space, and Strategic Project Management courses in the Spring! Feeling pretty excited about it! πŸš€

Love this photo of Atlantis (our local Shuttle πŸ’™) so much!! So wish @atmocheryl.space and I had ever seen a Shuttle launch in person! πŸš€ Though we have visited Atlantis many times at KSC visitors center ✨ Credit in case the attached comment doesn't come with the repost: NASA/Jim Grossmann

Really glad I coughed up the big bucks to get the premium health plan with my job...sad I had to but considering the state of *things* & my autoimmune diagnosis, I knew I'd need it. It's still absolutely horrific that 'good' healthcare in this country is tied to a full-time well paid job though...

Thanks for sharing this! A co-worker and I were driving by the LC-39 Gantry two weeks ago and were like, 'is that an engine in there'?! Glad the mystery is solved! πŸš€

#Mountain Mt. Rainier showing off, as per usual... #wawx #sunset

βš’οΈπŸ§ͺ Looks like the Mendocino Triple Junction at it again! At this spot, three tectonic plates come together, and since they're all moving in different directions and at different speeds, there's a lot of activity. This area has M6+ earthquakes more often than anywhere else in California.
