oh my god ...

This is excellent advice.

I really need to get these two AB Aurigae papers finished ...

Perfect

you are a great role model, Jasmine!

JUST IN: A federal judge in Massachusetts has blocked the Trump administration's rate change to NIH grants. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Almost certainly being paranoid, but astronomers: someone outside the US has ADS backed up, right?

This week in my "Intro to Astronomy" class featured a generous number of references to Monty Python and to MST3K. The kids must have some cultural education while they learn about science ;)

See, isn't this like the 3rd stop of a crazy thing in a row by the courts? Instead of "strongly worded letters" go judge-shop and do lawsuits/emergency injunctions.

Congratulations on a job well done to all the kids on college campuses who bravely stood up to Genocide Joe www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

Schatz is awesome. And one of the few Dems in the Senate willing to do more than write "strongly worded letters".

Leave it to Trump to piss off the friendliest country on the planet

Ronald Reagan: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.”

This is definitely the Kelvin timeline, isn't it?

This is the way, Democrats.

I think we've got the current administration all wrong - They are totally about diversity, equity, and inclusion: a diversity of inebriated states, equity for the dictator-supporting population and the wholly unqualified, and inclusion of medical snake oil salesmen.

Welcome to the Schrödinger's Cat of federal funding freezes. Courts can't block something that doesn't exist — so if they do away with the piece of paper saying it exists, but everyone who needs to know knows that it *does* still exist, does it still exist?

A good thread.

One fed employee on Reddit: “I've never been more motivated to stay. Before the "buyout" memo, I was ready to go job hunting, but then a revelation hit. I took an oath under this position to the American people and leaving my job under the current state would be failing to maintain my oath.”

Jim Acosta announces on air that he's leaving CNN and says, "it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant ... don't give in to the lies."

Jim Acosta's closing message is a must-watch.

No lies detected.

Yuuuuuuup!!!

The voice of repentance is the voice of self-awareness.

It’s clear that some Jan. 6 defendants plotted their conspiracy to engage in violence at the Capitol while still present in their home states. Blue state prosecutors should consider whether they have jurisdiction to charge these crimes since Trump can’t pardon them.

Supporting criminals who violently attacked and desecrated the US Capitol should be considered beyond the pale, regardless of one's political views. Pardoning such people is shameful and makes a mockery of the rule of law & the Constitution.

where has this website been all my life ...

JPL is one of NASA's major science and climate centers—home to the Mars rovers and 1000s of people. Firefighters held back the flames at JPL’s gates, but many of our coworkers lost their homes. Here’s a thread of their public GoFundMes if you can share & support however possible:

looks like remarkable work!

"A study of federally funded research projects in the United States estimated that principal investigators spend on average about 45% of their time on administrative activities related to applying for and managing projects rather than conducting active research" www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
