Could you make a complex legal argument, in a second language, in a country you've just moved to, without the help of a solicitor? A must-read story on the legal aid crisis that's making it impossible for many people to get the sanctuary they need 👇 www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

Look at the incredible skills on display here. Talented, resilient people locked out of work for absolutely no reason. It's time for the Government to see sense and finally #LiftTheBan - save money, improve lives, restore dignity. bylines.cymru/politics-and...

Thousands of Syrian people are trapped in terrifying uncertainty: not yet safe to go home, refused the chance to ask for safety here. It's a huge injustice that cannot be ignored. www.middleeasteye.net/news/over-on...

What's more important: a 'league table' machine-tooled to stoke division, or understanding why people are DYING while asking for our help? Did you know the Government has no official record of how many people die while seeking asylum, but it's willing to bow to these far-right data demands?

Can @SercoGroup shareholders be proud when their UK detention centres, like Yarl’s Wood, are reported for bad conditions, self harm crisis, and an "anti-migrant culture"? It’s bad for humanity, bad for business. #ImpactABetterFuture? shareholdersshowup.org #StopSerco

Serco's AGM is taking place today - can its shareholders be proud when its 24/7 GPS surveillance of people seeking asylum was found in breach of UK law? It’s bad for humanity, bad for business. #ImpactABetterFuture? #StopSerco shareholdersshowup.org

Happy LesbianVisibilityWeek ! 💗🧡🤍 🗣️ “Lesbian Visibility Week is important to me because it is an opportunity for us to show who we are, and that being a Lesbian, we can achieve great and wonderful things!” 🗣️ “It is a place where you are not judged.” #celebratingrainbowfamilies

Asylum camps like Wethersfield are dangerous, traumatising & cruel. Every day they stay open is another day of suffering, at huge cost to the taxpayer. We signed this to remind @yvettecooper-mp.bsky.social that people deserve to live in communities, not camps www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Asylum camps like Wethersfield are dangerous, traumatising and cruel. Each day they stay open is another day of suffering at huge cost to the taxpayer. We sent this letter to tell the Government people deserve to live in communities, not camps. ✍️ @archieaustin.bsky.social in @the-independent.com

On Lesbian Visibility Week, we're thinking of the women who've come to the UK seeking the freedom to be who they are and love who they love. Too many LGBTQ+ women seeking sanctuary are met with a hostile system that bans them from work and forces them to live in poverty. They deserve better. #LVW25

Traumatising, dangerous and wasteful - housing people seeking asylum in prison-like Wethersfield is indefensible. The Government was right to shut Bibby Stockholm, now it's time to close all the camps. Our letter to the Home Secretary from 70+ refugee & human rights orgs in @the-independent.com👇

Following the UK Supreme Court ruling yesterday that the legal definition of woman is based on biological sex, we want to express our solidarity and extend our love with our Trans Community, today and every day. Trans Women are Women. Trans Men are Men. 🤍💗💙

We stand in solidarity with trans people across the UK, particularly trans women seeking asylum, in the wake of this ruling. Attacking an individual's right to be recognised as who they are does not, and never will, make anyone safer. Trans rights are human rights 🏳️‍⚧️ www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The sheer cruelty of our asylum system costs lives. People who've overcome unimaginable odds in the search for safety are being put at risk of suicide, instead of being supported to rebuild their lives. It doesn't have to be this way. No one benefits from a system built on cruelty.

Imagine this: You're in so much danger you're forced to flee your home. Then you move to a country where the system is so hostile towards you, it bans you from working, and you're in danger all over again thanks to racist attacks. Wouldn't you be traumatised? www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

🚨 URGENT 🚨 Help us stop the deportation of our sister Fatou — her life is in danger if she is deported. We must act NOW. ✊ Stand with us. 🫵 Please sign and share this petition. www.change.org/p/stop-the-d...

Every person forced onto one of these boats would rather have travelled another way. No one wants to risk death to reach safety. The Government wants to "restore order" to the asylum system. Creating controlled safe routes so people can ask for help without risking their lives is the first step.

Absurd and appalling. A woman who has fought to defend human rights expected to take her chances with the Taliban, being told she'll be fine because she "likely has a great support network"? The UK has a duty to protect people who need sanctuary - decisions like this show we're failing.

Don't miss out on your chance to grab a free ice cream and support the campaign to #LiftTheBan today!

Infectious diseases rife. A survivor of torture allowed just one shower in 33 days. A pregnant mother miscarrying without medical care. The people exposed to these appalling conditions deserve justice and we all deserve to know how this was allowed and what must change so it cannot happen again.

Things that just make sense: 🍦 Free ice cream 💼 Letting people seeking asylum work Two things it makes absolutely no sense to say no to, and tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, you can combine both of these absolute no-brainers on #FreeConeDay Here's how 👇

Barges, disused army barracks, hotels—none of these are fit for people to live in, and only add to the trauma of those already suffering. Wethersfield, like other temporary sites, must close. It's time for real solutions: community-based housing, support, and dignity for those seeking sanctuary.

Today, hundreds of people seeking sanctuary will wake up in Wethersfield RAF base. A camp that sees frequent ambulance callouts, where people are isolated, traumatised, suffering mental health crises and suicidal thoughts. Wethersfield must close. People deserve to live in communities, not camps.

Horrifying reports from Manston, where a disgusting racist message was blasted out of radios. Imagine someone who has just arrived seeking help and sanctuary, hearing a message like this. How can private firms justify the fortunes they make running asylum accommodation where abuses like this occur?

We've heard a lot from the Prime Minister this week about "smashing the gangs". But what does that really mean? It means making channel crossings more risky, without creating a safe alternative. It means record levels of avoidable deaths. Let's call this what it is: deadly anti-refugee rhetoric.

The question is not whether people seeking protection should be housed in hotels OR military sites - both are harmful & should be closed urgently. The govt needs to create a fair & efficient asylum system & house people waiting for decisions in communities, not camps. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

When the PM says here he'll "look at anything that works" to end dangerous crossings... but he's not talking about the one thing that would actually stop people from having to risk their lives. It isn't complicated. Safe routes mean no more dangerous journeys. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

More scapegoating of people seeking sanctuary. More failed, expensive border security measures. Still no talk of the only way to actually stop people smuggling: safe routes to get people to safety. Isn't it about time to change the record?

Reasons we have a housing and public services crisis: - Austerity - Austerity - Austerity Remember this as the government (yet again) tries to pin the blame on "illegal" migration at this week's immigration summit.

There's one obvious way to stop people smuggling, so why isn't Keir Starmer talking about it? If you really want to "smash the gangs", give people safe routes into the country so no one is forced to put their life in the hands of a dangerous, exploitative gang to find safety.

So we're going from paying millions to the private firm that oversaw appalling conditions in Napier Barracks to paying millions to the private firm that oversaw appalling conditions on Bibby Stockholm? It's time to stop letting these companies profit from people's suffering. #CommunitiesNotCamps

No one wants to risk their life to reach safety. Let people apply for visas abroad and then travel safely to the UK, and they won't have to risk crossing the channel. Save lives. Save money. Stop people smuggling. Safe routes just make sense.

There's so much wrong with this. Offshoring won't solve the problems in our asylum system. It's a dereliction of duty that just shifts responsibility on to someone else, at the cost of people's safety. The Government should be ashamed to even consider it.
