Medicaid waiver programs pay for community-based group homes for younger people with severe disabilities who do NOT belong in nursing homes. They pay 75% of their SSA benefits to the contracted agency, Medicaid pays half of the total bill. They might have to move back in with their aging PARENTS.

As a caregiver, I’m amazed at the number of people who don’t understand this. I’ve had to explain it to children of dementia patients so many times I’ve lost count.

If you read anything today, make this a priority! Totally disabled individuals forced into Medicaid work requirements. time.com/7260543/medi...

"'The law was someone’s xenophobic dream, but they went so far in their illegality that they said you can’t have water, sewage, or electrical services unless you prove your citizenship,' Karen Tumlin told The Bulwark." A cautionary tale from Alabama:

This has been my point for weeks about what Musk is after. Consolidated data from the biggest mine of information in the world. He’s so thirsty for data he’d get his hands on the nuclear codes if he could. Could he? www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

Protests and calls are fine, but if you want Republicans to do anything to stop Trump, they need to know how their constituents are being directly harmed. VA surgery cancelled? Call a Republican Lose your federal job? Call a Republican Your research grant cancelled? Call a Republican

The Pentagon is now pausing their mass firing of civilian employees in order to evaluate potential impacts on military readiness. I’m just spitballing here, but maybe a readiness assessment should have been the first step. 🤦‍♂️

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

You were taught that educated, single, child-free women are unwanted and pathetic because a woman who is unmanageable through attachment and enraged at the exploitation all around her is a very dangerous thing to an institution that needs to manage and exploit her in order to survive.

The only way to keep your footing in a time of constant gaslighting is to approach every action with the question, “who benefits from this?” Sure, MAGA gets a kick out of doing shit just to hurt people, but cruelty on its face doesn’t always make money. Every action. Ask who benefits.

Based on my count there are at least 17 DOGE-related legal challenges, the last filed on Feb 12th, (and I could be completely wrong about that but comprehensive information is tough). And yet DOGE is still powering through the IRS and Social Security Administration. So what the fuck is happening?

When ordered by Nazis to give lists of disabled people by disability severity, some doctors sent back exaggerated data to protect patients from forced work They didn't know that the "most disabled" were to be killed first The moral here isn't to tell the truth It's to never co-operate with Nazis

A Secretary of Defense who knew what he was doing would have read that speech before he gave it and then made sure to coordinate with the White House and NSC before reversing some 80 years of U.S. policy and leaving Europe in the lurch while the biggest war since the 1945 was underway.

If you were born in 1980, this year you are 45, and 2025 is the square of 45.

youtu.be/TWLqSk4ZlN0?... What is the plan? There is no plan. But I find myself liking the idea of US out, Ukraine in (NATO), Europe finding Ukraine essential to European defense. Then Trump can do whatever he wants with the knowledge that NATO will not assist us, e.g. if there's another attack...

The lead prosecutor on the Adams investigation - Hagan Scotten - resigns from SDNY. “I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion [to dismiss Adams charges]. But it was never going to me.” www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

When I heard Musk say this on Tuesday, my assumption was that it was a programming issue. Because I can code and have written to databases and because I am familiar with other examples of default values being misinterpreted. Yet somehow Musk isn't.

No it hasn’t. The federal government filed a civil suit—echoing the same theory of liability on which the first Trump administration *lost* in most of the courts to hear it. To say DOJ “filed charges” is to deliberately make it sound more significant and threatening than it actually is.

Between the Bove/Sassoon/Adams contretemps and Attorney General Bondi’s preposterous letters to Apple and Google, Thursday was about as bad a day for the Department of Justice’s credibility as we’ve seen in generations. Me, via “One First”: www.stevevladeck.com/p/124-the-th...

Remember how the press used to cover the refusal of prosecutors to carry out the political whims of the President? Good times.

Veterans have, by law, preferential hiring in the federal government. Disabled veterans get higher preference. Among other things, it's a pipeline to help them adjust post-service. So if you're roasting all the new hires, you're roasting a lot of veterans, with a lean towards disabled vets.

I’ve never read anything like this. In a sane world this would be grounds for impeachment. static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics...

You’d think the damned attorney general would know the difference between criminal charges and a civil suit.

On behalf of California, we accept. ktla.com/news/califor...

As a parent of two kids with special needs, I'm pretty damn excited to know that a racist billionaire who routinely uses the slur "r*tards" is destroying the federal department that's a bulwark for special education and support for disabled children.

The idea that Musk/minions can make decisions about the worthiness of a payee once the check has been authorized and is about to go out the door, relieves Congress of having to do any hard work on a budget. So even with a majority, MAGA Congress will not do its job.
