AtLAST 📡✨will generate vast amounts of invaluable data. We will ensure scientists 👩🏽‍💻🧑‍💻🌎 can access such high-quality data quickly, analyse them with ease, and seamlessly combine them with other telescopes' data - paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries! 🔭🧪 www.atlast.uio.no/news-and-eve...

The strength of AtLAST is in science where a large FoV, highly multiplexed instrumentation, and sensitivity to faint large-scale structures are important" says M.Booth in @ec.europa.eu's ORE Blog post, stressing the crucial role of open science: open-research-europe.ec.europa.eu/blog/in-conv... 🧪🔭

The talks from last week’s AtLAST forum - Telescope Design overview and Science drivers shaping AtLAST’s design - are now available on our YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@AtLASTdesign 🔭 🧪

The next AtLAST forum is planned for this coming Thursday March 6th at 14 UTC. Talks: 1) telescope design, 2) the science shaping the design, followed by an open discussion. For details and zoom link check www.atlast.uio.no/news-and-eve...

"The AtLAST project is ready to harness European know-how and global cooperation to revolutionise our understanding of the submm universe, while pushing for greener observational astronomy." rea.ec.europa.eu/news/31-new-...

PhD position in Supervisory Control for the Power Grid of a Telescope available within the AtLAST2 project at the University of Oslo - Application deadline: 28 Feb 2025. Starting date no later than 1 October 2025. Read more here: www.jobbnorge.no/en/available... 🧪🔭

Do not miss the first AtLAST Forum tomorrow 6 Feb at 8 UTC. This is a platform for the community to exchange ideas and opinions about AtLAST and anything related to it. There will be two talks followed by a plenary discussion session, see: www.atlast.uio.no/news-and-eve... 🔭🧪

APEX, a pathfinder for AtLAST. Or, as Karl would say, “There is soooo much left to do!”. In this News item we talk about instrumentation upgrades, sustainability, cutting-edge astronomical observations, and our future AtLAST prototyping activities on APEX: www.atlast.uio.no/news-and-eve... 🔭🧪

We are advertising a 1-year studentship for an enthusiastic Master student to analyse wind data for the future #AtLAST telescope. Opportunity to work at the 5000m altitude site in the Atacama desert in Chile. Application deadline 15 Feb 2025. For info: recruitment.eso.org/jobs/2025_0006 🔭🧪

We are open for applications to participate in the International School for Young Astronomers, to be held in Ecuador in July 2025. We are looking for MSc/PhD students in Latin America and Caribbean countries. Full scholarships available to attend! 🔭 www.iau.org/news/announc...

"The AtLAST project has demonstrated that the pursuit of transformational science can go hand in hand with a more sustainable approach", states project coordinator @claudiacicone.bsky.social in this interview for #CORDIS @ec.europa.eu cordis.europa.eu/article/id/4... 🔭 🧪

And now that the December 2024 Newsletter has been sent (available at pub.dialogapi.no/v/5715a7e9-0...) the AtLAST team closes this amazing 2024 and wishes everyone the best for the holiday season and for the new year 💫🔭🧪

In this new paper led by Joshiwa van Marrewijk we demonstrated that AtLAST’s 50m-diameter provides the highest levels of correlation of atmospheric signals across adjacent detectors compared to smaller apertures: AtLAST will be great at removing submm atmospheric signal on large scales 🔭

An amazing piece of work led by (my brother in science) Joshiwa van Marrewijk and Thomas Morris. Are you building a single-dish telescope (not not talking about you, @atlastdesign.bsky.social) and want to test for mapping and filtering strategies, atmospheric mitigation, etc? Just ask maria. 📡🔭🧪

Why are astronomical observatories been built at >5000m altitude in the Chilean Atacama desert? @ureichert.astrodon.social.ap.brid.gy wrote about this in the article "Atacama - dem Weltall so nah" in the December issue of "Sterne und Weltraum", where he also mentions AtLAST 🔭 🧪

This is the official account of the #AtLAST study funded by @ec.europa.eu. AtLAST is a next-generation sub-millimeter 50m single dish #astronomical 🔭 facility, with #Science 🧪, #Technology, #Sustainability and #Community engagement at its core. More on atlast.uio.no
