Revamped how to move the Nodes around. Now simply click and drag them which is MUCH smoother than before. + Background effect to give more distinction to the actual play area. Not 100% sold on the effect right now. Now new bugs created that need fixing 😂 #SoloDev #Godot #GameDev

Did you know that adobe's dumb stupid cancellation fees are bullshit? Just go to your bank and cancel the the monthly payment. Adobe will email once a month for a bit, just to complain that you aren't paying them to not use their software, and you get a warm fuck you feeling! 🥰

S tier level code commenting 🔫 Now show me yours #SoloDev #IndieDev #GameDev

The biggest hurdle I'm coming across with learning #Godot is the significant shift between v3 & v4 which has left a lot of comments, help and guides online being made redundant. I'm spending more time determining if something is still relevant than anything else at times 😅 Just me?

Slowly improving my secondary, Roguelite Tower Defense project Node.Home Enemies now drop 'Bits' which are used to build more Nodes Nodes, or your "turrets", can only be built and moved within the centre shape. Nodes can be rotated as needed & eventually upgraded #SoloDev #GameDev #Godot

Have the opportunity of building something for a good cause and have almost exactly one year to do it in! So I'll be splitting my efforts between this new project and IdleSettlers. Lots to learn but the timeilne and purpose will hopefully keep me motivated. More updates to come!

Haven't had much to share regarding progress lately. An opportunity has presented itself for a separate project intended for a very good cause that I have exactly 1 year to complete so will be trying to split my time. Already done some tests towards it so hopefully have something to share soon!

I have made fire!

"My house burned down at GDC" is something I've never heard meant literally. @art.imitates.life is a long-time indie who has created so much joy and wonder over the years, both through work and presence. Help Evan out a bit if you can?

Still working on some major code rework in IdleSettlers and still entirely placeholder art 😂 Also added the new River tile. This can be upgraded to provide either Fish or Clay resources. Alternatively can create a Water Mill which will convert Grain to Flour #SoloDev #GameDev

Can now upgrade the tiles in my idle, settlement builder - IdleSettlers Each tile type will have multiple upgrade options, providing additional & new resource options. Should you have completed the requirements to unlock them that is 😉 Still lots more to come #Godot #GameDev #IndieDev #SoloDev

Starting the process of adding an important new mechanic to IdleSettlers! 😃 Quickly realising it requires a major refactor to a lot of my existing code 🫠

Trying to do a little each day on my tile-based, idle, settlement builder - IdleSettlers 🙏 - A selection border now indicates which tile is selected - Added keyboard support to move the selection around - Right-click & hold to move the camera around the map #IndieDev #GameDev #Godot

Game Jobs 👇

It would appear that Unity has entered its consequences era

It's not so easy to expand now! Tiles now have a cost to unlock, watch your resources! You can always speed up to harvest more resources faster 😉 (Still LOTS of placeholders!) #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

The first stage of what I hope to be my first self-developed game; IdleSettlers All visuals are completely placeholder (designed by me 😂) but the base functionality is there! Still an absolute ton of work to do but hoping this can be an impressive "before" example 😉 #GameDev #SoloDev

A new project begins... #GameDev #SoloDev

Question for #SoloDev #GameDev - What has helped you find the time to develop your own games? Especially relevant for those who have to work a part/full time job. Do grants or funding help you with completing your projects?

I'm no expert but I feel this is a) not legally enforceable unless it's part of a contract between both parties and b) an effective method of ensuring bigger creators do not cover your title Quite a strange approach if you ask me

Using AI to produce writing or art is like asking someone at the gym to lift weights for you. The effort is the point.

Another day enjoying the dichotomy of Gamers: Gamer 1: "You're the best CM for this game hands down" Gamer 2: "I hope you die" Well 😅

Happy Community Manager Appreciation Day 🎉 Hope all the CM's out there are having a good day. No doubt requiring you to be having the day off work to do so IYKYK 😂

I feel the opportunity for BlueSky to spin off a feature that matches TikTok would capture the imminently-orphaned TikTok audience who are looking for alternative platforms 😆

Steam's rating system is now effectively meaningless. Instead of ratings reflecting the game itself, they're now a playground for people reacting to commentary. A game rated 'Mixed' is recently graded as 'Mostly Positive' due to the CEO announcing his studio is effectively removing DEI policies

we are HIRING!! remote associate producer opened up to support our animation team 🫶 $75-95k, project hire (full time but contingent upon game) game producers, jump on this!! thatsnomoon.com/careers/5411...

First day back at work after the holidays. How do we do this "work" thing again?
