11 years ago today, I spent 2 weeks escorting a team from 60 Minutes around the Atacama Desert for a feature on the ALMA Telescope @thenrao.bsky.social. ALMA has since exceeded all expectations; For 75 years, NSF achieved wonders. Those days are over. I grieve. 🧪🔭 www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfFL...

Time

Each one of a kind, woven from crystal, semi precious stone, glass, ceramic, metal. I consider them woven because of the dimensions considered during creation.

Spring time in the yard. Using chips of glass is more work than you can imagine .

Completed but the work and I both need some sunshine to be our best:

These days of just a touch too cold to work in the gardens and oil paintings being a touch too wet to work on; are a good time to work on another “light and air” weaving. 30 strands completed; 12 more to go.

My first clock; so I really bungled it. The acrylic and flake metal proves it was an experiment. The image I translated from Krahe Rudi Hurzlmeier, a work that always speaks to me.

Sometimes, things bear watching and waiting. Oil on canvas

The “Moon Tree” planted at NASA Langley, dedicated today. The seed from which this tree grew was flown around the Moon on Artemis I. It joins the Moon Trees from seeds flown on Apollo 14. 🧪🔭

Portrait of my father and two of his granddaughters at the Naval Opening of the Waves ceremony in D.C.

In-depth view of tiger eye hanging.

I’m trying to keep my hand in during these cold, dreary days.

This is an oil painting I did 23 years ago and finished today. That’s what I adore about working in oil; never say done. Texture that can be as light as the thinest watercolor or as thick as Plaster of Paris.

I‘ve heard the argument that it isn’t a lunar calendar but an agricultural one. I suppose that could be said of the Farmers Almanac also. The snake image is Adobe Stock. Nicely done.

Here’s an excerpt of a letter sent to me by a good friend. The image is of an oil painting I did of one of my great nieces.
