a little research piece on technology in music composition pedagogy, drawing from my own experience but also from those who have been at the coalface an awful lot longer: insamjournal.com/index.php/ij...

very entertaining but absolutely horrifying watching centrist melts trying to square the nazi salute thing with continuing to be on x surely there is a German word out there for this very specific emotion.

We’ve written to the Oxford Literary Festival to question why Helen Joyce is listed under their LGBTQ+ category. Her widely criticised views on trans inclusion make this association both insulting and tone-deaf to the LGBTQ+ community. We’ve asked for this to be corrected.

The strange thing about articles like this, now all the rage.. is that everything is about something else. thecritic.co.uk/we-need-high...

I don't know much about olfactory ethics, granted, but I'm puzzled by certain academics' willingness to write 2000 words attacking a thesis they can't possibly have read. I know it's tricky because we don't yet have access, but bite your tongues, fellow academics. Don't just guess from the abstract.

Wonderful to have secured this Goethe-Institut funding to work on a new surround-sound live electronics bassoon project with Olivia Palmer-Baker. www.goethe.de/en/kul/foe/i...

hcmf shorts highlights (no pictures because I forgot): Maija Hynninen's contrabass and electronics piece excellently performed by Heather Roche, and Paul Scully's audiovisual reflection on Bull Island. Also great to have a few (too many) beers with new friends and Niki @nikizohdi.bsky.social

I'm shit at posting or I'd do it myself, but we need more wholesome new music content. one of the reasons I left twitter is got I got fed up of getting pissed off at what some new york school ego makes of Brian Ferneyhough passages.

1. Big new piece in collaboration with a bassoonist (soon to be announced) 2. Monograph reappraising 'new complexity' approaches (such as they are) as fundamentally queer

the important question isn’t “did Harris lose because the left is too woke?” it’s “why isn’t Donald Trump in federal prison?” We’re being subjected to lectures about politics by the people who held all of the power and let this dipshit slip through their grasp.

I need more two-note slurs in my life. Look, buddies!

If you're in Melbourne over Christmas, please do go! I'll be there in spirit. 'the angles which wound me' was a huge turning point in my creative development... by which I mean my turn towards sci-fi gothic lunacy with filthy sounds and a penchant for exuberant graphic scores.

New antifascist art challenge: write music that utterly appalls Ivan Hewett, ideally in several dimensions at once.
