Palestine was the test to see what they could do. Not standing in solidarity with Palestinians was not only a major moral and ethical failing it was a strategic mistake that everyone will pay for.

β€œIf you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

If you have a spiritual practice these days, or faith in a higher power, or rituals that ground you, or an Ancestral veneration practice, or simply the ability to see the Divine in all things, I hope you know how rich you are. To have any of these things right now is profound medicine.

"For those who do not have community (and for those who do), I would offer that a pod of a few or more people can help in the interim and especially in the years to come. A pod is made up of the people that you would turn to for support." - @miamingus.bsky.social www.soiltjp.org/blog/pods-fo...

Trans rights are human rights, and we will fight for them. Always.

I finished this book yesterday and it got my head out of the doomerism space. I needed the reminder. The world needs us in whatever capacity we can manage.

A good, important thread on the dominant framework driving the current administration.

Where can I follow the brilliant thinking of @breenewsome.bsky.social if I'm not on X? Bree, we need you!!! πŸ™πŸ½βœŠπŸ½πŸ¦‹

Begging folks to include ALT text w their images so they are accessible. Esp at a time when critical info is being shared. Bluesky has a setting that will remind you to add text when you're posting an image. Go to Settings/Accessibility, and check the box next to "Require alt text before posting"

So fucking tired of this framing that billionaires are "folding" to Trump, rather than using Trump to do exactly what they've always wanted to do, which is why they spent billions of dollars to get him elected, this shit is so easy, these are slam dunks, Im begging people

Black and Indigenous folks suffering at the hand Amerikkka's 'laws' for generations could've told y'all, but your misplaced sense of superiority won't let you listen. If nothing is real until it impacts you, you're part of the problem.

Who's still watching this garbage? Oh that's right, Amerikkka loves its violent games with a side of racism and fascism. πŸ’πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Humility is in order right now. No one knows what will make a difference. So do everything that you can to take some form of constructive action. 1000 people taking action is ALWAYS better than 1000 people doing nothing or 1000 people acting like East German figure skating judges.

From @mskellymhayes.bsky.social β€” why it’s truly a coup, with analysis, cautions & some sense of how to respond- including this: β€œThe first thing I would advise is to speak clearly about what’s happening. This is not merely a crisis, it is a coup.” organizingmythoughts.org/must-reads-a...

With the waves of criminalizing legislation, EOs, and copaganda emanating from all directions, we're re-starting up our monthly criminalization roundups, written by our co-founder @dreanyc123.bsky.social. Here is our first one, focused on the criminalization of migrants: bit.ly/IC-TMIC1

Perhaps all of this will finally put an end to the fiction that "no one is above the law" in the U.S.

I don't know what further proof we need that the Democrats are in cahoots. πŸ’πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Join the Working Families Party today.

The more under resourced we are emotionally, the easier it is to activate us and turn us against each other. The spectacle is a strategy fam. We have to resist with rest, regulation practices and rooting ourselves in our bodies as we fight back

Telling folks to just "plug in to community" rn is well-meaning and if you can do that, wonderful. But most people are not super connected to community for many reasons. So, if you don't have community rn that's ok, consider finding 2-5 ppl you can form a pod with. www.soiltjp.org/our-work/res...

Rather than institutional *failure* perhaps more people are clearly seeing what Congress actually is as an institution.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

I hope everyone knows that the MSM's ONLY role is to manufacture consent. Find alternative ways to get actual news.

Daily reminder that the government didn't invent Black History Month and the government can't take it away. Same goes for Juneteenth & every other Black celebration.

Where's the outrage against the greedy f*cks who sold Twitter to Musk? πŸ’πŸ½β€β™€οΈ They could have said no and we wouldn't be here. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

If you're reeling from Trump's ongoing attacks, please check out my latest piece about what trans people are up against and how we (as in, all of us, including doctors and clinicians) can resist these assaults. Includes commentary from @dreanyc123.bsky.social and @deanspade.bsky.social.

Amazing resources

A good way to begin prep for our nationwide strike is to start small. If you can avoid buying from the retailers below, do a week at a time in February. Make it late the whole month if you can! We realize some may live in limited access areas (where only a Walmart is, by design)… do what you can!

An absolutely vital method of resistance right now is to demand consent culture. We are witnessing the rapid theft of choices, spaces, and rights.

This by Dan Savage is I think important to keep top of mind. It speaks to the point I made earlier that bad news is never the only news.

I wrote about Trump's executive orders, including his attacks on trans and undocumented people, and how we should be orienting ourselves to defy fascist violence in this moment. This piece includes commentary from @chasestrangio.bsky.social and @silkys13.bsky.social.

Some people don't want to hear it but there's no silver bullet to address all that we face. These problems and issues have long roots. This is a marathon. Do what you can within your capacity [with others]. Keep focused and pass the baton when it's time.

The point of the firehose of Executive Orders is to disorient and to demobilize. It's to instill maximum fear. If we know this, then that's already half the battle. This means that we have to respond with focus on those most vulnerable & targets. It means we have to refuse their attempt to scare us.

Don't know who needs to hear this, but everyone should know that hoarding money won't make you safe or loved.

Unpopular to say, I'm sure but individuals being overly concerned about the "scale" of their actions often get in their own way. The "scale" matters less than you ACTUALLY taking considered action. Our cumulative actions are barely perceptible to us in the present but they matter if only to us.

Something I keep in mind regularly is that we don't all need to be fighting the same battles. There are too many fronts for that anyway. Engage those fights most meaningful to you and leave the others to other people.
