MACGRUBER is the best ode to 80s action movies. I miss this era of 7/10 comedies with medium budgets and amazing actors having fun. There are at least 5 jokes I will think about and laugh for the rest of my life.

OCEANS 11 is nearly perfect. Love watching Soderbergh blend the stylistic tributes with the modern action filmmaking. 10/10 acting from everyone and a genuinely interesting heist. Can’t beat it.

I watched ROAD TRIP as a bit and initially thought it didn’t hold up at all but then I watched the sequel that came in the dvd combo pack and it made me appreciate how hard it is to make these college comedy movies passable. The actors in the original deserve more credit than I was willing to give.

HACKERS is the best example of a 90s movie. I know there are others with strong cases but every aspect of this movie oozes a very particular vibe from that era. The skateboard scene had me yell at my TV and I can’t believe it wasn’t burned into my memory like so many other scenes.

I’ll always defend IM NOT THERE as the most interesting musical biopic (which I don’t generally enjoy). I feel like it got lost in the super crowded field of amazing 2007 movies because it’s not really brought up when people discuss the top films of the genre. I know it’s too long I don’t care.
