I'm here to learn but if I also gotta prove you doing know as much as you think, so be it.

Incredibly brave to admit to me you have no imagination.

Authority is not self-justifying.

Stacy's mom's medicare is gone

I've been writing a series of essays for PBS on men whose style I admire. The latest is about James Baldwin, a man who knew how to sing through clothes. www.pbs.org/wnet/america...

Protest works. Phone calls work. Venting to your friends and family works. Saying No works. Dragging your feet to comply works. Asking “why?” Works. The only thing that *doesn’t* work is throwing up your hands and saying there’s nothing you can do.

You avoid epistemic breaks; I seek them out. We are not the same.

In sync with the spectre / really not a thing you can measure /

I wish I lived in a world where Jimmy Fallon was funny to me.

Brain like Usain Bolt: "slow" starter but it speeds up constantly.

I'm just built different. Not well, though.

Resolve

I'm going into 2025 with the intention to be more attentive and aware. I look forward to learning and creating more. I hope to slow down and feel more connected. Here's to a good year, Beloveds. 🥂 Are you ready this time? (I'm trying to be.)

Finding my nemesis would heal me.

An obvious consequence of private ownership of news producers.

"The central problem with democracy is that the people who need leaders aren't qualified to choose them." -- Michael Malice A general point, but interesting phrasing nonetheless.

"You aren't from a dark planet, are you?" "No." Calvin shook his head firmly. "We're - we're shadowed. But we're fighting the shadow." -Madeleine L'Engle (1918-2007) A Wrinkle in Time

The insurance CEO getting what was coming to him has made me really nostalgic for the old Twitter.

"... as you will discover, people find it very difficult to act on what they know. To act is to be committed, and to be committed is to be in danger." ~ James Baldwin, from "My Dungeon Shook"

Could see that go to indict the entire "self-help" genre

Another year spinning only the classics
