Everyone starts off thinking they want writing advice but slowly finds out what they're really looking for is writing _confidence_ to get in the chair and do the work.

At your book events... ASK FOR THE SALE. I've seen this 3x sales firsthand. "Let's send you home with this series, okay?" "Do you want just book 1 or should we just go for it with the series bundle?" Assume that everyone wants to buy and make it easy for them to just say yes.

Authors: How many book signings are you doing in 2025? (So far)

Any big plans this weekend? 🤔

Do people post videos on Bluesky? Maybe not in my feeds, since my feeds are all Booky? 🤔

Stuck in a scene? Do what the pros do: use brackets. Write what the story beat is: [Our hero gets out of the fight through clever means] Then just keep writing what happens after. Maintaining momentum is key to getting the most words on the page. Meanwhile solutions often present themselves later.

🤣

Nope!

Love this!

If you want readers to do something, reduce the friction (make it very easy to do)! Ran across an ARC sign up form with terrifying legal-ish language, tons to fill out, and I felt scared away and like I didn't have time. Keep it simple #arcsignups #fictionauthors #indieauthors

Fiction Authors...What's your favorite place to find ARC readers?

Someone just asked me for writing tips, and my gut level response was "all writing advice is fake, just read books you like and write as much as you can and eventually something will be good" but then I thought about it and I had some actual advice! 1. Read! Your work! Out loud!

Hmmmm.... 🤔🤔🤔

Anyone else??? 🤓

@barnesandnoble.bsky.social Reading that things are picking up for yawl... Reopening flagship. Visitors up 7%... yay!
