Among the countless federal workers that could be (+ are) impacted by the hiring freezes are Dept. of Interior, National Park Service, + USFWS employees. These new orders will leave parks + species recovery teams understaffed, thus impacting the very animals we're working to save.

Will the Endangered Species Act survive Trump? TLDR; probably not We can expect language changes that weaken the ESA, species delistings based on political pressure instead of science, + eliminating species specialists who would inform ESA decisions.

The Center for Biological Diversity is teaming up with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to offer a $20,000 reward for help catching the person/people responsible for the deaths of 3 gray wolves in WA. At least 22 gray wolves have been poached in WA since 2022.

A new study suggests drones are a useful tool to keep livestock safe + more importantly, keep wolves safe. Many states kill wolves if they attack livestock, despite studies that show non-lethal methods (like drones) are more effective at fostering coexistence. Excited to see how this plays out!

Informants who tip off wildlife officials on illegal wolf poaching in CO could earn $50,000 from new reward fund. A wolf who died in Sept had a healed gunshot wound, prompting the creation of the fund. The reward from Rocky Mountain Wolf Project supplements the existing $500 reward offered by CPW.
