And if you want to say "no" in person, come to the State Affairs committee hearing Monday at 9 a.m. in the Senate Chamber, and support public libraries.

Hmmmm. Looks like the auto comment is off on this bill now, perhaps because it's status was changed to pending. Full text & info here. Contact your reps instead. legiscan.com/TX/text/HB13...

Texas! House Bill 1375 would allow civil suits against any bookstore that allowed children access to content the plaintiffs feel is “harmful to minors.” Most bookstores don't have the money to defend themselves against these suits. Add a public comment while it's still in committee.

Fellow publishing professionals and authors, let's protect the freedom to read! 📚

Yay! I just went to AABB’s feed to ask this question and the answer was right there.

Contacting electeds, signing petitions, writing letters, adding public comments, all of that important work can feel lonely, but you're not alone when you're doing it. Here's a thread of pictures from yesterday's rally at the Supreme Court of some of the many people who are with you in this work...

The House Committee on Education's hearing for SB 1098, Oregon's Freedom to Read bill, has been delayed TWICE. Oregonians: Please urge the committee members to move this important anti-discrimination bill through the House ASAP. olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2025R1/C... @authorsabb.bsky.social

Joined @authorsabb.bsky.social, the Coalition for Inclusive Schools and Communities, and other groups at SCOTUS this morning in opposition to school bans of LGBTQ+ books, as Mahmoud v. Taylor has oral arguments today. #EditorsAgainstBookBans

Today SCOTUS hears arguments in Mahmoud v Taylor. Why is this important? LGBTQ kids and families exist. Their stories matter. These are beautiful tales of being kids - that have been grossly mischaracterized - Read this. pen.org/authors-spea...

I'm not in DC but if you are please stop by

I wish I was in DC today, marching with the folks who are reminding SCOTUS about the basic American ideal that we live in a pluralistic society. If this idea doesn't live in us, how can it live in our laws? If it doesn't live in our laws, then who are "we" the people?

Today, SCOTUS hears a case on whether hearing a story read about a child who has a gay uncle constitutes a violation of freedom of religion. Why should we care? Because public education belongs to all of us, and all means all. Kids with LGBTQ+ families are part of the all.

One of the many amazing books I get to represent in my job is JACOB'S ROOM TO CHOOSE, repeatedly the target of book bans since publication in 2019 and is part of this case. Pls consider ordering a copy to donate to your local public library or LGBTQIA+ youth center. shorturl.at/n3E6r

Tomorrow we can show up for a system of education that teaches & values the entire, complex, diverse, beautiful range of human experience. Join us & others on the steps of the Supreme Court if you can!

Here's a bunch more info on the case before the Supreme Court tomorrow glaad.org/fact-sheet-m...
