Meetings with elected officials are one of the most important tools advocates have. Our elected officials work for us! Schedule a meeting with them. Show them who cuts to Medicaid and its programs hurt.  Tell your representatives #HandsOff Medicaid. We’ve got tools to help:

CN: Police violence "We always have this conversation around Black representation or ‘representation matters,’ and nobody ever asks for Black disabled people. Pop culture exacerbates this idea that disability is only something that affects white people."

Section 504 is an important law that protects disabled people. Texas v. Becerra is a court case where people are asking the court to get rid of Section 504, which would hurt a lot of people. You can read about it and learn how to help with this plain language explainer:

A commitment to protect all students — including students with disabilities — is the bare minimum. We need your help: tell your Senators to oppose the confirmation of Linda McMahon as the next U.S. Secretary of Education.

"Hence, ableism is a culturally specific, historically contextual phenomenon. African Americans’ disability is largely constructed in relationship to the history of slavery, Jim Crow, and the racist violence associated with them."

Nobody should have to live in poverty. Compared to non-disabled people, a lot of disabled people live in poverty. We believe the government needs to support programs that make sure disabled people have the money we need to survive.

CN: Slavery "…let us celebrate the magic of intersection— of living Black and disabled— and being inclusive of the accomplishments of countless African American contemporaries, like myself, living with disabilities and making history every day."

Work requirements are meant as cuts to Medicaid. They make it harder for disabled people to get the services we need to survive. We can stop this - meet with your elected officials and tell them #HandsOff Medicaid! We can show you how:
