I’ve watched the 4 min clip on the BBC page. I’ve never seen anything like this. A bully loosing an argument will say, why are you doing this in front of the cameras. The way Trump and Vance spoke and behaved in this is, well, I’m lost for words. I’m putting the phone away for the evening.

What an unbelievable embarrassment the US President and VP are to their country. Ambushing an allied leader in the Oval Office, demanding his gratitude, while Europe's poorest country and fights a war for survival and sovereignty... Land of the sheep, home of the weak 🐑🇺🇲

Tramp & co doing a brilliant job at uniting Europe

"Within all this chaos to talk about carbon footprints, net zero pledges or 1.5 degree goals will just sound like babble from a distant past." Ouch! braveneweurope.com/wolfgang-kno...

Teagasc IFJ letter in response to @murphy-bokern.bsky.social fails to answer his critique. –Dr. MB said the problem is that Teagasc *is* causing confusion & it is Teagasc's methane messaging (NOT the organisation!) that "borders on climate change denial and serves neither farmers nor citizens." 1/2

Exclusive: The government is to take action to prevent the importation of potentially fraudulent biofuels into Ireland, after the National Oil Reserves Agency raised concerns about the source of the fuels, the Business Post can reveal. www.businesspost.ie/news/exclusi...

Heck yeah! (Think of this every time you hear those ads for "biofuel ready" home boilers, or see trucks on the road boasting about running on "HVO"...)

Coverage by Kevin O'Sullivan in the @irishtimes.com of important letter from academics on LNG & climate policy incl from @hannahdaly.ie @autofac.bsky.social Prof John Sweeney and many other trusted respected voices see here www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

Like buttering up fascists has really worked for #Europe before .... Ireland will be plámás -ing with shamrock and cute Cork accent shortly #spéirghorm

Make America really terrible again ⬇️

It's one thing to read of budget cuts at crucial scientific agencies like NOAA, but it's another thing to read about the layoff of climate scientists you've been following for years. This is deeply, deeply worrying.

It’s difficult to overemphasize what a dumb and shortsighted idea it is to start importing fracked gas, literally just to try and keep on trumps good side

News is tearing across my professional circles this afternoon. For those not involved in the weather enterprise, I need you to understand something: seansublette.substack.com/p/bloodbath-...

Equinix data centre refused planning permission because onsite gas generation was "inappropriate and contrary to national climate obligations”. Under recent CRU policy recommendations, this wouldn't necessarily be the case. www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41...

Leading academics warn Government of its plans for LNG and how it should seize unprecedented opportunities to invest in Clean Energy, achieve fossil fuel independence and fulfil our climate obligations #ClimateCrisis #EndFossilFuels www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41...

Ireland's dairy farmers lobby group, ICMSA, is notably unhappy that the Central Statistics Office has issued a new online resource showing environmental impact indicators for agricultural activities. –More accessible data on Irish dairy pollution, whatever next! www.agriland.ie/farming-news...

Happy to sign this letter to the Taoiseach - thanks to colleagues for writing it. The fight against LNG in Ireland began nearly 20 years ago in Shannon. Given all we know, it is abysmal that it is still being considered by the current Government. m.independent.ie/irish-news/l...

'More damaging than coal'. Top climate & energy experts wrote to the Taoiseach urging him to rethink LNG. Letter signed by 12 academics including @hannahdaly.ie @autofac.bsky.social @michaelemann.bsky.social @profjohnbarry.bsky.social www.independent.ie/irish-news/l...

Good to see @hannahdaly.ie, @autofac.bsky.social and other leading academics (including @michaelemann.bsky.social) pointing out the compelling evidence AGAINST introducing dirty LNG to Ireland www.independent.ie/irish-news/l...

Transport Secretary has announced she is "minded to approve" Gatwick expansion, but will delay final decision. A delay in this decision is welcome. Too much is at stake. @thecccuk.bsky.social has clearly stated that aviation emissions need to fall, not increase. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

👀 “Rather than legislation that will meaningfully protect people and the environment from corporate abuse, what we see today is the end product of the EU’s pandering to pressure from big business to cut red tape so that it can increase its bottom line at the expense of people’s basic rights.”

I have a joke about carbon offsetting but it doesn't work.

From the political frying pan into the fire... to sink more investment resources in fossil fuel emissions, as we converge on energy usage limits towards 2030, 2040? Climate experts warn Government against move to import LNG fossil fuels from (Trump's) US. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

A planning application has been announced today to build a wind farm 10km off the coast of South Dublin and Wicklow that will go a long way towards meeting our renewable energy targets. The project also includes a proposed new electricity substation next to Ballyogan Recycling Centre. 1/5

I'm old enough to remember when the Washington Post was one of the leading, most respected news publications in the world. Sad to see the demise of quality press at the hands of the oligarchs.

Shocking that RTÉ should post this story without employing a critical climate lens. www.rte.ie/news/busines...

'Protection racket diplomacy' is how the @nytimes.com is calling the US regime minerals assets grab from war-torn Ukraine. The foul stink of this deal www.nytimes.com/2025/02/24/w...

This short video on the false promise of using AI for climate is brilliant. The speaker worked years at Microsoft and resigned over the AI's broken promise. It's only 5 minutes, but a high quality 5 minutes:

"The New Denialism" The latest @cemusuppsala.bsky.social lecture by @kevinclimate.bsky.social just dropped. I highly recommend contrasting his conclusions with the latest @thecccuk.bsky.social recommendations published this morning! youtu.be/ofwmru1hcYQ

Great graphic h/t @fascinatorfun.bsky.social

I’m a professional writer. I use LibreOffice. I haven’t used MS Office in years.

"For years, the federal government hired people for all the wrong reasons. It filtered candidates based on integrity, experience, and diversity of perspective. The new administration is replacing this approach with a better, fairer system: hiring whoever yells the loudest."

A new McCarthy era is upon us. Stupid, depressing, and dangerous as ever. I wonder whose name will carry the dunce cap in the history books. Too many are complicit. I’ll need to find upset and action, but for now I’m feeling grief at the dehumanization inherent to all this.

We ALL must increase defence spending IF we want to remain free and secure with a say in our futures. However, that DOESN'T mean that we have to take the money from the least well-off and vulnerable, at home or abroad. Not when we can and should tax the wealthy. www.rte.ie/news/analysi...

The New Denialism: Climate Change An excellent new open lecture with Kevin Anderson, professor Tyndall Centre, University of Manchester and visiting researcher Uppsala University, recorded in Uppsala February 12, 2025.

To the vatniks, campists, fascists and self-described "pragmatists" saying "maybe Trump has got a point": There is one nation and one nation alone that should decide the terms for peace in Ukraine. Ukraine.

Senior doctors and surgeons describe the torture, starvation, humiliation and denial of medical care they endured while being held without charge. EU stands with Israel www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

It still hasn't sunk in what has happened in the US. I still see lots of denial.

My letter in the @irishtimes.com this morning. The media must do a much better job when it comes to reporting on road deaths.

[If you have ANY interest in credible, humane, informed responses to the climate emergency, please read this full thread. The #RumpEmperor is inflicting incalculable damage on global climate science. Actively *choosing* denial and ignorance over knowledge is a crime against all human posterity.]

This is absurd. Only Electro can suck power from the grid:
