Among many other devastating consequences, the fact that long-time anti-trans and anti-LGBT campaigners are now handed the opportunity to crow about having been "right all along" in their transphobia is a sickening outcome from the cowardly betrayal of trans people by Scottish Labour's leadership.

It is frightening that someone would set up a ‘trans genocide’ email account and abuse a member of the LGBT community. Whipping up fear and hate has far-reaching consequences for LGBT and marginalised people. Making trans people less safe does not make women and girls safer. Enough is enough.

There is no doubt that this is due to the campaigning of UNITE with the Grangemouth workers and Labour MP BrianLeishman. But this is only the start and all money invested must be to help the workers and create future jobs - not line the pockets of private business.

🌹 First Scottish Conference completed! ✊ Good to see so many friendly faces, but so much left to do... 🏭 Annc. to invest in the future of Grangemouth is welcome, although we still need to see swift and decisive action to avoid economic collapse in the region

🚩 Excited to be attending Scottish Labour Conference Friday to Sunday next week, particularly focusing on bringing power closer to the people. Especially excited to meet up with fellow Campaign for Socialism members to outline our vision for a radical alternative for our country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 See you there?

Delighted to have been selected as Labour’s candidate in Eastwood for the Holyrood elections next year alongside my good friend and constituency neighbour in Renfrewshire West & Levern Valley 🌹 @pfokane.bsky.social

Poor Nigel Farage - losing $100m and 25% of his council seats in the same week.

We made Waspi women a promise that must be honoured. When we stood shoulder to shoulder with them, it wasn't for a photo opportunity, it was in solidarity. The campaign is not over.

"Israel's continued control and colonization of Palestinian land have been the primary obstacles to a comprehensive peace agreement in the Holy Land." - Jimmy E. Carter (1924-2024) President of the United States 1977-1981

In July, Scotland and the UK voted for change. It's clear there needs to be a dramatic shift in policy and a total rejection of austerity politics if we're to deliver on better outcomes for working people and win in 2026. Diane and Nadia recognise this. 🚩 www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

it is so funny that Douglas Ross and Stephen Flynn annoyed their own parties so much that they made this inevitable

Delighted to announce that I’m applying to be a Scottish Labour candidate for my community in 2026 and have secured a supporting nomination from my union @gmb.org.uk 🌹

This is the statement that I, as the only trans person on the LGBT Labour National Committee asked them to make. They completely and utterly ignored me and will release a shockingly poor statement at 16:00. LGB Labour have completely lost the confidence of the trans community.

I welcome the fall of Assad’s murderous regime and share Syrians’ hope, joy, and trepidation. Yet shamefully, the immediate response of far-right leaders has been to demand deportations. Our government must support Syrian refugees and uphold their right to stay or return.

This is only the half of it. In Parliament we were told how Panorama was forced by Severn Water lawyers to drop details of how they also game sewage/water contamination reporting. We deserve better. We deserve publicly owned water 💦 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

John Curtice explains that First Past the Post no longer keeps parties like Reform "in check" on #R4Today Retaining a system that hands out parliamentary majorities on 1/3rd of the vote is not only unfair, it's becoming dangerous 🎂 Also, a very Happy Birthday to Sir John Curtice! 🎉

Vote Ava Birkett #1 for Scottish Labour Students Vice-Chair. Votes close on monday morning so be sure to make your voice heard! 🫶🌹♥️

I always find it funny when "GPEW" @greenparty.org.uk claims to be a progressive party but then this happens over and over. Look into who you're voting for - GPEW is as dishonest and far-right as Reform in their current state. #VoteLabour

I welcome announcements by the Scottish Government to raise child benefit before 2026, and to remove the cap on council tax imposed last year. Unfortunately this budget delivers no meaningful improvements on the core issues of the NHS, education and local economy, despite record funding increases.

Great time at Scottish Labour Womens Conference! ...and with 15 new female Scottish Labour MPs there's been some changes ✊🌹

✅ MPs voting to legalise assisted dying in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 clearly shows views have changed over the last decade. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I'm still undecided about specifics of assisted dying, but I think its important to pay close attention to the Scottish Parliament bill and for the public to provide feedback going forward.

🙁Terribly saddened Louise Haigh has resigned as Transport Sec. She's made significant progress in train and bus services and I hope to see her back in the cabinet in future. 🚆That being said Heidi Alexander is an amazing candidate and I hope she continues on the progress started by Lou.

👍Credit where credit's due: the Scottish Government has come up with a reasonable solution to the WFP. 🤔That being said, I do think there should be an open discussion as to whether pension credit should remain the basis of reciept, and its unfortunate we're waiting another year for implementation.

The River Clyde – have you ever wondered who owns it? @louisewelsh00.bsky.social & @judebarber.bsky.social delve into this in @the-empire-cafe.bsky.social podcast, Who Owns The Clyde? I had a chat with them about the historic development of the river. Listen here👇🏻 podfollow.com/who-owns-the...

Great weekend with Labour students! Thanks to all those involved and hope to keep in touch 🌹✊🎓

🩸On this day in 2020, Scotland became the first country in the world to introduce universal free period products. ⚖️ The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act was a historic breakthrough but is far from the end of the journey for menstrual justice. There’s still much to do.

My proposal for a Bill to protect the environment in Scotland and deter environmental damage by introducing the crime of ecocide into Scots law is gaining support. MSPs who are backing #EcocideLaw include Sarah Boyack. Has your MSP pledged support yet?

The repeated failure to upgrade the Maryhill Line shows how the SNP have let Glaswegians down time-and-time again. For a councillor that stands up for your community in the City Chambers, vote Marie Garrity for Maryhill Ward today!

John Prescott was a giant of the labour movement; a working class trade unionist who served with conviction and warmth. His legacy on housing and devolving power to regions will always be remembered. My thoughts are with John’s family and all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
