Unbeatable entertainment.

We want to say happy #NationalLibrarianDay to all our Library friends and colleagues! We think that Gladstone's hope that his Library would "bring together readers who had no books and books who had no readers" gives a nice overview of the work that our Reading Room team do every day.

It seems Tesla is detecting vehicles that may have problems, and artificially running their odometers faster so the warranty expires before they have to do any service Just incredible grift

In a Sri Lankan political landscape changed beyond recognition, one thing remains changeless: Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family have not lost the will to power. The ends they will go to in pursuit of it may yet shape Sri Lanka’s still uncertain future.

Coincidentally, today I received two publishing contracts (small, but very cool). Both included anti-AI clauses that I had insisted upon. These (see below) are suggested by the Australian Society of Authors, but applicable anywhere. Use them. Protect your rights as a creator. @asauthors.bsky.social

Unprecedented numbers of emaciated dugongs have washed up dead along Thailand’s Andaman Sea coast over the past three years, prompting marine scientists to urgently investigate what’s driving their decline.

Remember the Great Barrier Reef foundation? The one that hadn't done much but then got $443m from the LNP gov in 2018? Well they've put putting that money to good use, by paying for the Empire State Building to go green and gold for Kylie's MSG sellouts!! #auspol www.pedestrian.tv/entertainmen...

The ALP policy of a $1000 standard deduction worth of income tax deductions unless you want to claim more with receipts is excellent and will alleviate a very stupid tax return burden on millions (a bunch of whom don't claim now!) Just terrific stuff. www.theage.com.au/politics/fed...

The naïveté of some people about this (it gets people engaged in art and brings them to the museum!) is so disappointing. It does nothing of the sort but it’s so easy to champion because “accessibility”has been totally untethered from disability discourse to become a buzzword promoted by tech firms.

When I was last in Stockholm, I saw a tradie unloading his tools from a cargo bike, and the state of the Australian discourse about utes makes this feel like it was just some giant fever dream
