Bruno Chaouat's fascinating article in Le Monde points out the similarities between Musk & Dr. Strangelove, played by Peter Sellers, in Stanley Kubrick's 1964 film. Perhaps it's time to watch that film again ... www.lemonde.fr/article-offe...

Upon this response, JK burst into a million shards and a great wind scattered her unhappy soul beneath the arc of a newly formed rainbow.

"No President — Republican or Democrat — can withhold Federal funding authorized and appropriated by Congress and paid for by Maine taxpayers in an attempt to coerce someone into compliance with his will. It is a violation of our Constitution and of our laws, which I took an oath to uphold."

Yeah @kqednews.kqed.org, reporting on the DOT & Public Works’ combined $1.6M overspending over 7 years, but not OPD’s projected $52M overspending in a single year, is absolutely negligent.

What good is a bike plan if it only exists on paper? Thank you to Streetsblog for publishing this guest post where I detail frustrating omissions of local bike plan recommendations on recent projects in Castro Valley, Union City, Antioch, and San Ramon. sf.streetsblog.org/2025/02/21/e...

In honor of Minneapolis' Bridge Nr 9 and the Stone Arch Bridge, as inspiration to local government maintaining a transportation network for everyone, here's a low-traffic trail bridge under construction, and the temp bridge #Zürich put in during the construction.

If, like me, you use SeeClickFix app to report problems to the City of Berkeley, you'll need to download their new, currently unavailable Berkeley 311 app.

There is no such thing as a "reckless pedestrian". According to TIMS (tims.berkeley.edu), in the last ~13 years there have been 1388 pedestrians that have been hit by cars in the city of Berkeley. The vast majority of those occurred while someone was legally crossing in a crosswalk... 1/4

you love to see it. gov hochul comes out strong.

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

What would a TV ad promoting alternatives to driving look like? What if people who love cycling and progressive transportation reclaimed ideas like freedom, independence and even patriotism? We decided to give it a shot. Check out our new video, "America, It's Just Like Riding a Bike."

“Trump may respond by inviting only sycophants and right-wing hacks to chronicle his daily decrees,” Acosta continued. “Fine. Let the American people soak that in — the image of an aspiring autocrat and his servile propagandists.” @jimacosta.bsky.social www.thedailybeast.com/jim-acosta-c...

Plastic hit sticks on Gilman in Berkeley, working as expected? While I stood here to report via SeeClickFix, lost count of the oncoming drivers who nearly hit one of the remaining posts. Just a matter of time before a driver loses control, ends up in the bike lane, & injures or kills a cyclist. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, I’ve run the numbers, and it turns out I buy more hamburgers from Five Guys than they buy from me. I’ve been subsidizing these guys for years! The only way to solve this trade deficit is for Five Guys to fall under my complete control.

On Valentine's Day: a declaration of love to all cities where the daily commute can look like this ❤️🚲🌹

...they're eating the protections for the people who live there.

Dear City of Berkeley, I've reported three METERED parking spots on or near Solano Ave that, correct me if I'm wrong, don't meet the new state guidelines. Please remove these METERED spots. One assumes there have got to be more examples.

See here's how to do a headline. fortune.com/2025/02/13/e...

So Google has turned off reviews so user cannot tell then how idiotic it is that they are condoning the name change for the Gulf of MEXICO. Cowards.

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons: -We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S. -The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous. 🧵⬇️

Elon Musk was mocked after raging against "unelected bureaucrats" in an Oval Office rant oblivious to the fact that he was describing himself.

City of Berkeley made a big deal of replacing ONE BLOCK of Allston Way with pavers in downtown back in 2014. Are there any other streets in Berkeley that have received this treatment? Why aren't pavers being used more often for residential streets? youtu.be/Cq1kV6V_jvI?...

I posted a 1-start review of the rebranded Gulf of Mexico using the Google Maps app. Encourage others to do the same. Shame on you Google. Shame !

We know you can do this one. Democracy dies in the darkness. Thursday, February 13, at 8 PM your time, turn off all the lights and TVs visible from the outside. #3E #LightsOut

Should have changed it to NOTAYA: Notice To All Y'All

Good context for your calls to Congress. Also check out this tool telling you how many jobs your state has due to NIH funding:

Submitted for your approval, a non-functioning speed sign, placed in the bike lane on Doolittle Dr. on 09/07/23 by ... the Oakland Police Department! They wanted to discourage speeding, but it simply forced cyclist to mix w/ 50 MPH traffic. Reported it to OAKDot. All I ever heard was crickets.

Back in January, I was close-passed by an East Bay Regional Park District pickup near Miller/Knox Park at Pt. Richmond. Definitely less than 3 feet. Found this on the SD card for my bike's front camera. Forgot I had saved it.
