I love Canada, always have done from my very visit. I love the Canadian flag and I think Canada and Lebanon have the nicest flags in the world. There’s something fundamentally nice … yes nice, simply nice, about Canada and Canadians. #canada #ski

New Trump Executive Order: Qubits can only be 0 or 1, only one of two states is allowed!

Taiwan is the next big Trump induced crisis … and I may actually support him on this one!

I’m waiting on an Executive Order from Trump rescinding the FAA ban on smoking on flights in the USA and making it illegal to ban smoking … Making America Great & Sick Again

People become so defensive over how they voted and often time against all evidence double down rather than admitting they are wrong. It’s futile now to blame the Arab and Muslim American who voted for Trump.

President Verbal Diarrhea!

Hamas is trying hard to paint an image of victory with the hostage handover “ceremonies”. They are seriously off the mark. The image of a young frightened but resilient hostage in a sea of masked faces with guns is reigniting all the horrors of Oct 7 and doing so much to advance Israeli propaganda.

I’m sort of ok with Trump busying himself with things like Greenland and Panama … good things to be consuming his political capital on and to show the world his desire for the spotlight

I feel about as much responsibility for terror acts committed by Muslims as any English speaker feels when a crime is committed by another English speaker.

When you’re number 2 and trying to find something you’re number 1 at 😂

Happy new year Bluesky!

Six hours drive and the match “may” yet get called off due to fog 🌫️🌫️🌫️

The Trump Panama & Greenland rhetoric is surreal … it feels like we collectively are entering the Twilight Zone

Anti Islamists are 100% certain that Shara will not succeed. Islamists are afraid that he might succeed, so they are disowning him. The Muddle East - Season 2 Episode 1

Excited about my first trip to Anfield on Boxing day

Feels weird rooting for Everton!

Just watched the highlights of ManU v Spurs .. lots of goals but didn’t really feel like great football other than Son’s corner

LFC supporters, anyone else having problems with sign on to Liverpool sites? The SSO doesn’t seem to be working & password resets are not working either

I’m finding Substack Notes a good substitute for Twitter in terms of politics content but I’m also finding it boring and not lively … I’m still looking for the something resembling what Twitter was 10-15 years ago

I love how quickly people in the Middle East are shifting the blame for Syria’s problems from Russia and Iran to the USA & Israel.

People forget that Israel occupied the Golan Heights as a buffer zone and then later annexed it and have now occupied a new buffer zone in Syria. So it’s a buffer zone for the buffer zone!

Looks like Trump is going to finish his honeymoon before inauguration!

Other than the brilliant intro with Leonard Cohen’s song and the scenery of the Irish countryside, I really don’t like Bad Sisters … overly contrived!

Regarding of political calculations & what emerges. I can’t help being so happy to see the happiness of my Syrian friends!

We might soon see Russia and the US, Iran and Israel, all cooperating to keep Assad or another Baathist replacement in power in Syria. Qatar and Turkey will likely need to concede this one. Meanwhile countless hundreds of thousands of Syrians will die, get maimed or become refugees.

It looks like this time, the collapse of the Syrian regime is more likely than any time since 2012. While Assad now enjoys warmer relationships with Arab countries that once abandoned him, his biggest backers Iran, Hezbollah & Russia are all busy with their own messes.

Good morning Bluesky, anyone here writing about Syria or reporting from northern Syria
