Excited to announce that as of January 1st, I've started a new contract at the University of Padova, funded by TalentUnipd Stars. My research will focus on firearms, private policing, and political violence in France, Italy, and England. Looking forward to this new journey! #unipd #globarms

Last gig work exhibition of the year, at Maison de la Création et l'Innovation (University Grenoble Alpes). On display this week and early next year as a teaser for the much bigger exhibition I will organise at the Bibliothèque universitaire Droit et Lettres (details to come).

in what i think is a pretty decent encapsulation of the website i logged onto Threads this am and my only recent notification was an algorithmic prompt to engage with a friend of mine who died earlier this year

I'm also super excited to share my first article, which builds on some of the work I did for my PhD. I discuss how revolutionaries operating through the port of Genoa used the sea and worldwide business connections to staff and supply the army that unified Italy in 1860.

Next week, I'll be attending a conference organized by Enrico Acciai, Marco Aterrano, and Matteo Millan on the history of private security and policing. I'll be discussing cases from Third Republic France and Liberal Italy. If you're in Rome, don't miss the chance to join us! #policing #skystorians

Here I am on Bluesky sharing what I wrote about Bluesky. It's easy to be a wonderful social network before the numbers get big, the VCs get hungry and the crowds get mean. I asked CEO Graber: Can Bluesky stay this way and become what all of us want? www.wired.com/story/plaint...

Hello #skystorians! 👋🏻 My PhD thesis delved into police, revolutionaries, and crime in 19th-century Italy. I’ve published a book on this topic (Polizia, crimine e ordine pubblico in epoca liberale, Rubbettino). Now, my research focuses on strikebreakers, and gun control in Third Republic France.
