Music sure is wonderful

Listened to Fear Factory's "Archetype" this morning while making and having my breakfast. Not sure anything can touch the first two records, but for a record without Dino Cazares it's surprising how well it holds up.

I'm sorry things are taking so long. I got thrown off more severely than I imagined and I'm just trying to gather myself. Thanks for your understanding.

In better news, I've been listening to Shadows Fall's classic "The Art of Balance" a lot lately and it's still great. In the early days of "The New Wave of American Heavy Metal" I thought they would be as big as Lamb of God is today.

I'm sorry to everyone waiting on things from me. I had to take a few days to sit with some old wounds and fully tend to them. I'll resume work on my writing tomorrow with hopes to have new material for you all very soon. Thank you.

This Saturday is the 25th anniversary of the most traumatic experience of my life. I've been struggling to keep myself together. I've been writing about it, but it's too overwhelming to finish this week. I'll be offline a few days to process it privately. See you soon. Thanks.

it's so sharp

the thing they don't tell you about "making art out of your suffering" or whatever is that sometimes you suffer too greatly to have the presence of mind to make lunch, so you're definitely not making any art worth a damn

I'm reaching a point where I think of people who are thirty as basically babies. I am both okay with this and very concerned by what it means for me and my own aging process

My debut book of poetry, The Bella Vista, is officially out today via @unnamedpress.bsky.social

Hey hi you should follow my wife's art account, @swordfernstudios.bsky.social. She's very good and I think y'all will enjoy it.

good morning I am listening to Black Sabbath

It's 8:39pm the day after the Super Bowl and I have no idea who won because the only conversations I've seen about it on here were about Kendrick Lamar.

Almost forgot to share that I had a great time listening to music this week. Did you?

It's freezing in my apartment. I'm down to working a single day a week (not by choice) and can't find a second job. Feels like a total bottom. Doing my best to turn this day (and my life as a whole) around, one way or another, but it feels bleak.

need to know if any movie theaters will have marmalade sandwich specials or anything else of that nature for the Paddington premiere next Friday. I need to know where I can have the fullest experience in support of my boy

Been hard at work on my next mini newsletter and radio style mix for my paid substack friends, but the internet’s been out in my house for the last couple days. I can use my phone to post online but can’t do much with my computer. Hope to have this resolved by tomorrow.

i love tapir

Comp is sick. If you’re afraid of actually buying things (or if you’re broke like me) you can now hear it on Spotify and stuff instead of just Bandcamp. Dig in

It's really weird to me how the Meshuggah-core thing that took hold of popular metal remains huge many years later but most bands have chosen glossy clean approaches instead of a more feral and ugly take on it. Really wish this could be the blueprint for modern metal.

I just started playing Ys Origin yesterday even though it was a very early addition to my steam account (possibly ten years ago or more). I'm really enjoying it so far, even though I don't fully understand the power-ups I'm picking up or how to do anything particularly advanced.
