Hugs to all the neurospicies whose strong sense of justice and empathy has been in complete overwhelm for weeks now. ilu

If you end up picking Vintage Story, I'll be interested about your thoughts! It's a Minecraft-like with highly elaborate crafting mechanisms -- one example of many: you need to rotate your crops to keep soils healthy -- and there's a peaceful mode if you don't care about the hardcore survival angle.

(Mind you, that's an article from 2024, and I haven't found signal of current plans in that direction.)

Oooh, if sci-if is acceptable, how do you feel about Becky Chambers' WAYFARERS series? I loooooved how character-centric it is and most of the characters are non-human.

Also glad to hear that Severance still has your seal of approval. I loved season 1 but was worried that all the mysteries would end up just yet another empty box, like so many shows.

The Good Place somewhere in there as well! Still impressed at how much smarts it packed under its lighthearted and pretend-silly veneer.

Wow, that's a super primitive coat on the rightmost horse. What's the breed? It kind of makes me think of Portuguese Sorraia.

This does mean no #NFC for me this year though. Sorry, people to whom I owed hugs. :(

(Source: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typogr...)

I idly wonder if Musk knows that one of his goons is on record with pro-trans statements.

That would be a good option if you can score it. I understand it's a primary source of market status signal at some finance corps, and finance really likes its fixed income instruments to stay fixed.

Given an angle on obligations default risk, something like FT or Bloomberg would be max impact. No insight into whether either would run it, though, mind.

Now that this is public knowledge and the perp's identity is known, I wonder how many state actors have already succeeded in planting backdoor access to his laptop... Imagine the hilarity of e.g. North Korea getting write access to US Treasury systems.

😱 I could have met you face to face for the first time last year!
Guess it will have to be this year then. Are hugs okay? I hope hugs are okay. ❤️

Out of every 100 US citizens, 14 are Black, and 1 or 2 are trans.
Even if every single trans person pushed back hard on an anti-trans attack, there are not enough trans people to push back for themselves.
This only works if we fight with them.
The alternative, is abandoning trans folk to nazis.

That astounding thing where I keep finding myself thinking, "No, he can't possibly be *that* stupid," and then soon have to curse myself for an optimist.

Hopefully, yeah. (Well, "hopefully"... that'd still wreck more than a few things, just on a narrower scope.)
How did we even get to where we can't be certain they won't push the "collapse everything, lol" button just to see what it does.
