Ex Novo, our playable city generator, is live on Kickstarter and has already hit its funding goal: www.kickstarter.com/projects/sha... This makes me happy, and so, for the campaign's duration, this thread will be all about examples of the glorious things your settlements can achieve. 🧵

If you haven't backed this yet, back this. If you have, back this again 🎲🏰 🎲

Does anyone in this vast universe know of any games that look like you are playing through/ experiencing the scribblings of a madman? Any weird uses of collage, physical or digital? I'm interested in the visuals as well as general aesthetics.

This was a super interesting discussion on what we consider games, game history, colonisation and gentrification, the experience of playing games in parts of the world outside of the "western world" and more.

Now that is a pitch worth its weight in cursed amethyst 🃏✨ Consider me intrigued.

Hmm, is this the most realistic way I'll try MÖRK BORG? 👀http://kck.st/425FaV5

So! I teach TTRPGs to beginners professionally in an LGS environment. Here's a thread from me on what has worked, what hasn't, and what to keep in mind as you introduce people unfamiliar with TTRPGs, a system, or a genre.

Absolutely scared of jinxing it, but Talos Principle is succeeding on all fronts so far ~5 hours in. I thought one of the pieces might fail, I was especially doubtful that I would be able to make progress with the puzzle part, but damn. 🤖 Plus, its themes in the time of ChatGPT and such... Phew.

If you see this, QPR your green art 💚 Adding some green armors to this green train

A super interesting game, made by an Italian team (I believe), with some of the most unique visual direction i've had the joy of playing. Plus a thread full of recommendations!

Echoing similar thoughts for games, after a @remapradio.bsky.social podcast, we really need to stop talking about how a work performed as a commercial product 95% of the time. It isn't binary, but let's maybe stop examining everything that people create as just an un/successful attempt to make bank.

Jesus this looks both visually stunning and interesting?!

Just played through Bening Land, developed by @leandrosntolas.bsky.social and it was a refreshingly different experience.

Starting March 24, I will be teaching a course on something I love & have been studying (occasionally teaching too) for years: the history of video games. Have a look at my 'History of Video Games: a tale of tech and game design' course on @d6learning.bsky.social: www.d6learning.com/course/histo...

Yes! Narratives are built in a readers head. If you tell them something they probably won’t remember it - if you hint and they figure it out, they’ll never forget it

Playing quake for the first time like god intended, on a steam deck, on a plane.

Indika, released in 2024 by Odd Meter is a deeply interesting indie game. Following an orthodox nun in Russia, it handles topics that games rarely touch, with an uncompromising idea of what gameplay should look like. The religious, christian orthodox elements are refreshingly familliar, as a Greek.

As game Senet: Households is nearing 5000 downloads (what?!?!) we want to highlight the amazing dev team that work with us! In this thread you can check out their incredible work and follow them where you can! You can download the game for free here store.steampowered.com/app/3457490/...

Citizen sleeper 1 is one of my favourite and most memorable games, and everyone has been praising the heck out of the sequel pre-release. I'll definitely wait for the next rainy weekend to dive in.

Ohhh, I'm sweating profusely. Austin's work through the years has changed how I view video games, ttrpgs and media in general, and I cannot wait to see more of Realis.

Playing around with #pico8 and it's so tiny and fun!

Later better than never, my recap for the past year. I've completed a game design certificate at SAE Athens, an excellent experience. I've launched 5 game projects, all of them available at balthuk.itch.io

Well damn, 7-8 days and 28 hours later, I have to uninstall this to keep my sanity 😵 Balatro feels like someone discovered a game, not created one, as if it was waiting to be found. Feels fundamental in many ways.
