Lakers haven’t even played well in the second half, and Luka and LeBron have bowed out early. But the Jazz are genuinely terrible lol

Lakers try zone and give up the most wide open three the Jazz have had all night. They’re going to need the zone in a huge way as the season goes along, so lots of work to be done.

Man, I forgot Johnny Juzang existed. Loved him as part of that magical UCLA run to the Final Four, but tonight he just looks like another Jazz NPC.

Absolutely wild to see a halftime show with so few nods to pop. Never thought I'd see it.

Hubie Brown would have proudly identified that second PI call on the Chiefs as a makeup call by the refs.

I know the sports world is focused on a certain football game tonight, but Hubie Brown’s final game broadcast and all the tributes were a legitimate sports highlight. Well done ABC and NBA, that was really moving.

Gonna be great to see AD get love now that the Lakers jersey isn't melting people's brains

best part of LeBron’s postgame comments was his response when someone referenced an old Bill Walton quote about his game. Bron said “I miss Bill”, don’t we all, my heart still feels a bit heavy he’s not with us any longer.

Blazers lost four straight games in early to mid January by an *average* of 22 points (including a loss to the Nets). Since then they’ve won 10 of 11 and have only lost to OKC.

Easily one of the worst setups to a LeBron-Steph showdown, two decimated rosters plus Ws coming off a B2B playing in LA. First half was bad (though Bron was awesome), but they turned it up in the 2nd half against all probability, still one of the best shows in sports.

can’t keep up with this trade deadline…or the number of bad takes it’s spawned without watching any of the involved players seeing a minute of playing time for their new teams

Always a must read, wildest random stat comparison might be Mark Williams having a higher usage rate this season (23%) than Khris Middleton (22%).

Cam Reddish was effectively out of the Lakers’ rotation but with him & Christie gone, that places a *lot* of pressure on DFS and Vando to be available. Lakers have size but the guard/wing depth chart is verrry shallow.

Recall being excited about Mark Williams out of college given his measurables (incredible wingspan, good shot blocker in college). But compared to say, Derrick Lively, he does load up more slowly and doesn’t deter shots as well as other prime shot blockers.

Lakers fans curious for good intel on Mark Williams should listen to a recent pod (the “4 in 54” Dunc’d On pod) from @nateduncannba.bsky.social. Williams is good, but his rim protection issues surprised me.

Likewise skeptical about Jimmy to the Warriors, but after their latest disaster loss, I do understand the sense of desperation that fueled the deal.

Been a fan of Brandon Ingram since he was drafted by the Lakers, but I don’t know about this trade to the Raps. Doesn’t seem like the environment to unlock the best version of him.

SGA on a 50 point pace — still telling Jaylin Williams in the huddle to keep shooting 3s even after missing his first six — is the kind of MVP teammate energy I’m here for.

Not as much time this season to watch the random mid-week NBA game so I’d normally skip this OKC-Suns game. Got lucky that the one time I make time, I get to enjoy SGA’s sheer genius in dismantling an overmatched opponent

Often when people in political circles call something "a distraction" what they are really saying is "this issue centers people that are not like me and/or I don't think this is important"

Lavine in a Kings jersey looks way stranger than I expected it to be.

Dennis Schroeder’s career has been a wild journey with multiple highs as well as plunges into purgatory. More of the latter in the last year going from Raps to Brooklyn to the Ws and now being shipped to the Jazz.

I don’t get that challenge by the Hawks on a blatant foul on Wemby, horrible decision losing your last timeout even if you have a good full court play. Wemby blew it up anyway by missing the last FT.

Has the classic James Horncastle touch, not to mention serving as a window into a certain type of person in 2025. www.nytimes.com/athletic/606...

Puzzled yet again by what the Knicks are but the Pistons are legitimately a cool story, one of the best in the NBA. Not just for the diehard blog boys either, begging the mainstream analysts to give these guys some love.

Malik Beasley thriving with Cade Cunningham when neither LeBron or Giannis could unlock him in two mediocre seasons is a development I absolutely did not see coming.

chased the big man away because they said all he did was shoot threes and foul too much, look at them now, food for the Rams

Not going to get too hot with this take, but J Dub being largely invisible in the 4thQ of OKC’s last two losses has stood out to me. Want to see what adjustments OKC makes in the rematch with CLE next week.

Wonderful game between the two best teams currently. Came down to fine margins and CLE’s bigs and role players like Jerome and Strus delivering. Cavs’ zone stalled OKC’s offense dramatically, only six pts in the final four minutes.

Great graphic of teams’ shooting from best to worst, courtesy of @automaticnba.bsky.social. So many nuggets, just highlighted the ones that blew my mind the most. Orlando being a top 10 net rating team despite subterranean shooting is really something.

This season should be about the Thunder and Cavs running away from the league, but the rubbernecking around a horrific Suns/Warriors/Lakers loss every other day is irresistible.

Can’t imagine a team on the fringes talking themselves into Zach Lavine at this point, but I would love to see him on a better team. Has really brought it this season.

“New look” Lakers do look better (or at least more logical) in terms of personnel and process, but not sure Reaves as primary playmaker at 40+ mins/g is sustainable. Feels like one more piece is needed.

only 9 minutes gone by on Inside the NBA, and Chuck has already unloaded enough takes to warm the entire East Coast through the Arctic weather hitting this weekend

wow KAT was really biting his tongue in that postgame interview after being asked how it felt to get 30 and 20 tonight, can’t wait for the goods to eventually come out

Thibs calling a timeout during garbage time after Minott drains a three to cut the Knick lead to 28…vintage Thibs.

Wolves getting clowned on their own floor while KAT does his best Bill Walton impersonation for the opponent, fans are NOT happy

Lakers coach JJ Redick had plenty of thoughts to share when asked about the NBA ratings discourse, the rise in 3-point attempts and the general state of the league:

Never been anti-Randle the way some of the Knick fanbase has been, but it wasn’t hard to predict some of the issues he’s had so far with the Wolves. But DDV turning into a pumpkin has genuinely disappointed me.

So rare to see Brunson, Bridges and KAT all humming the way they have been tonight, sure looks good when they all cook and it opens things up for everyone else.

Knicks with a phenomenal second quarter, but you know Thibs won’t be happy with outscoring the Wolves 40-19 — now when Minny scored 11 of the last 14 points to cut the lead to 21.

3 first quarter fouls for Naz, a touching KAT tribute

No better person to make the kind of defensive play Brunson just made than an ex-teammate who frequently saw just how tunnel-visioned Randle can get.

watching the Thunder tonight feels so much like the Dallas series all over again, opponent with overpowering superstar creator that doesn’t turn it over exposes OKC’s offensive limitations beyond SGA.
