I finished Half Life 2 for the first time. I can see it was a very polished game for 2005 but sadly, the OG Xbox version struggled mightily to run it well. I appreciate its modern mechanics and great level design but it felt a bit drawn out at times. Overall, I liked it and recommend it on better HW

Ninja Gaiden 2 back 2008 was a game I was determined to finish despite my struggle with its steep difficulty level. I pushed myself to the limit and reached the end. I vowed never to go back. Then this remaster arrived and I tried it out of curiosity. Unexpectedly, I loved every second of it.

Crow Country is a tribute to PS1-era survival horror. It’s full of fun puzzles, interesting collectibles, classic point & shoot mechanics, creepy foes, and the most gloriously simple and blurry graphics to hit the Switch. Oh and the story is really interesting! Highly recommend!

⚠️: do not buy this physical game… its online-only and the servers are no longer available. Granted I heard it was bad but would have liked to see for myself. I hate an online-only gaming world. 😡

Finished my 3rd and most complete playthrough of DKC Tropical Freeze. Having just finished DKC Returns, I fully recognize how much improved and masterful this platformer is. The diverse characters, perfect difficulty balance, and unmatched level design really heightened my affection for this title.

Killzone Shadow Fall is a beautiful game with sharp controls. It’s quite a challenge with focus on stealth and espionage combat. Unfortunately, I struggled to identify objectives, diverges from scripted paths, and felt frustrated by constant failure. I finished it but it was a chore at times.

Rolled credits on DKC Returns HD this past weekend and realized how much I love this entry, especially with fewer Wii gimmicks. Unfortunately, it’s many mine cart and rocket levels detract from the experience. This HD version has some better difficulty balancing but could’ve been so much better!

Received a PlayStation from my friend the other day. I popped in RE1 to “test it” and couldn’t put it down. It’s such a special game with fun puzzles, creepy vibe, and classic RE tank-controls gameplay. Kicking Tyrants butt was a joy! Highly recommend all RE fans play it through at least once!

Ryse: Son of Rome is a solid action brawler with a beautiful visual presentation and a decent story. It’s nothing groundbreaking but is an entertaining 10 hour romp. It reminds me of a simplified God of War (2018) with fewer compelling elements. Give it a try if you’re curious.

Finished Soul Reaver 2 Remastered. It’s a great game in itself with a masterful story, great acting, a huge finale, and fun puzzles. Combat is still clunky like the 1st entry but there are some improvements. Unfortunately, the remaster is plagued by bugs, visual glitches, and even locked up. Ugh…

Wrapped up Soul Reaver 1 Remastered. It was one of my favorite games on Dreamcast 20+ years ago and I’m happy to report, it’s as amazing now as it was then. While combat is a little clunky, the puzzles, story, music, and incredible characters elevate it. I couldn’t get enough of Raziel and Kane.

Quantum Break is a spectacular action thriller full of fun puzzles, glorious action set pieces, and solid gunplay. It has a weaving tale of time travel with an apocalyptic overtone. It’s the first hybrid video game/TV show format game I’ve ever played and loved every second.
