In this current harsh world, let's warm a few hearts remembering the events of 7-8 March 1991, when the 90,000 people of Brindisi woke up to find 25,000 Albanians roaming the streets of their town. For perspective, that's roughly equivalent to 25k people suddenly landing in Hastings [Thread] >> 1

Made lasagna this evening. Feeling very pleased with the results, and they tasted good too

This isn't Gaza. This is the West Bank which is run by the PA not Hamas. It is being decimated, homes destroyed, over 40,000 Palestinians displaced so far with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Western MSM silence is deafening. Now imagine if this was inside Ukraine.

Advice wanted I’m planned to go to a residential work meeting this week. The venue have sent me a disclaimer to sign regarding my food allergies. They will not be responsible for poisoning me. I feel uncomfortable with this. I have never signed one, nor happy to. But it is a work event… 1/2

The Chancellor’s latest announcement on welfare cuts feels like a gut punch. Cutting benefits without addressing the root causes behind the increase in claimants - poor mental health, poor work conditions, and poverty - is short-sighted and dangerous. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... 1/7

First day off in a fortnight tomorrow. Please, please, please don’t let there be a migraine. I’ve even had an extra swim this week in the hope that it is a preventative

The United Nations just called out the UK’s #disability benefits system. PIP & ESA don’t cover basic costs. Disabled people are being pushed into poverty by welfare cuts. The government must fix this and stop treating disabled people as morally suspicious: tinyurl.com/2fxmr3cn

While understandably, eyes have turned to Ukraine and the threats of Trump’s chaos machine, Israel is taking full advantage. Gaza is under notice of siege and bombardment and the Knesset advances plans to annex large swathes of the West Bank. The danger is extreme.

Today is Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake day). Which means tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. Join Lego Jesus for a reflective journey through Lent, all the way to Easter.

A masterful summary👇

Had a lovely evening out with friends but can’t pretend that the stress levels haven’t increased after reading the news on the way home. Incredible to realise that we have reached this stage in world relationships.

Breaking news… inner child doing happy dance

On a bus, got the top deck front seat. My inner child is very happy

Church of Scotland, Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Church leaders criticise UK government slashing the aid budget for increased defence spending. Extra defence spending shouldn't be at the cost of "vital" humanitarian and development programmes www.churchofscotland.org.uk/news-and-eve...

The fact that the USA has banned visas for trans people but welcomed rapist Andrew Tate shows how all this "defending women" stuff is total bullshit

Had a lovely day yesterday but woken with a ‘shame hangover’ this morning. It’s Brene Brown’s helpful description of that weird feeling that everything I did was somehow wrong - despite knowing rationally that it can’t have been. Anyone else experience this from time to time?

40 000 Palestinians in Jenin in the Occupied West Bank have been made homeless by Israel’s forced evacuation policy. We are enduring sub zero temperatures here, so how are these people supposed to find shelter and warmth? Have I missed the world’s condemnation and action on this?

Twelve months ago this world have been virtue signalling. Now it’s acknowledging that some of the loveliest people in my life are more scared than they have ever been. I’ve got your back and will always be there for you 💕

Felt smug last night for having been for a swim (40 lengths) after missing last week when I had tripped over in the street and jarred myself. Feeling less smug today to wake with a migraine likely brought on by the swim. So much for swimming curing the migraines 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trump issues new executive order: Only the president can speak for “what the law is” It was fun doing democracy with you.

It’s been 15 weeks since #grief It has got a little easier, but gosh grief is hard. My insomnia seems to be pretty permanent now. And I appreciate just how fragile but important our relationships with folk are. Missing this particular one but even more grateful for my OH who has been a rock.

Psychiatrist Allan House was permitted, like me, to speak to the assisted dying committee - but only after it first tried to ban @rcpsych.bsky.social’s testimony. Pls read his letter. How is the committee remotely serious about protecting the vulnerable if it dismisses the doctors who treat them?

I’m an absolutist on assisted suicide (fundamentally changed our relationship to medicine, human rights etc., but @doctoroxford.bsky.social isn’t and this is well worth reading as a summary of many of the issues that have plagued the committee stage of the bill.
