I have pre-ordered Leah Litman’s new book on the Supreme Court, Lawless, out May 13.

The Trump Administration is pushing the limits of executive power. I’ll join Robyn Vincent on The Metro at 11 am on @WDET/@NPR 101.9 FM.

The deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in error should concern us all. The government’s refusal to return him is unconscionable. My thoughts in @Freep. www.freep.com/story/opinio...

Former EEOC commissioner raises the good point that law firms who are cutting “deals” with the Trump to make employment investigations go away are receiving no protection from future claims. You can always count on the bully to come back for more.

Happy Jackie Robinson Day. It is important to remember our history. All of it. He who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it.

Well done, Harvard. Standing up to Trump will not be easy, but academic freedom demands it. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/u...

Trump administration plays dangerous games with language of court orders in deportation cases. I will discuss with Jose Diaz Balart on @MSNBC at 10:25 am ET.

State secrets privilege is to protect disclosure to the public, not to the court.

On this Palm Sunday, I am reminded that retribution is not a Christian value. Regardless of your religious tradition, may we all find love, forgiveness, and redemption.

Courts are blocking Trump Administration’s lawless deportation methods. I’ll talk with @katiephang.bsky.social on @MSNBC next.

Trump’s purge of non-partisan public servants endangers public safety and the rule of law. This video is from Justice Connection, a resource group for former DOJ employees: youtu.be/RfRDKXyJJeg?...

In new episode of #SistersInLaw, we discussed court battle over mistaken deportation, victory for free press, and DOJ’s dismissal of Ga voting rights case. You can listen here. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...

By appeasing Trump, law firms are allowing him to rewrite history by creating false impressions of election misconduct and illegal hiring practices. My thoughts in @MSNBCDaily www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

More efforts to advance a narrative of grievance.

Great to see Detroit’s Pages Bookshop continue under new ownership! Wonderful indie bookstore and community gathering place! www.freep.com/story/news/l...

Shame on these law firms for going bowing to extortion. Maybe because they already do pro bono work and comply with hiring laws, they think it’s no big deal. But they are advancing a false narrative and emboldening lawlessness.

When you pay the extortionist, they always come back for more.

If they could get Noem there for a photo op, they can go rescue the innocent guy they shipped there.

AP’s success in obtaining court order for reinstatement to White House press pool is a victory for the free press. My thoughts in @Bloomberg.

Even Trump denies Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent’s claim that pausing the tariffs was Trump‘s plan all along.

Go Blue!

A Trump-appointed judge in Texas has granted a TRO in a habeas case to block deportation of a class of Venezuelan immigrants under Alien Enemy Act.

I’m no expert on tariffs, but I do know that wildly fluctuating economic chaos is a recipe for disaster for business planning. 🤦🏻‍♀️

In new episode of Cafe Insider, Ben Wittes and I joined Joyce Vance to discuss the Supreme Court’s decision on the deportation of immigrants to El Salvador. You can listen here.

I am proud of the law firms that are defending themselves and the legal profession from Trump’s lawless orders. The law is in their side.

Judge’s order to reinstate AP in White House press pool shows the importance of fighting lawless orders. It’s not just the rights of one that are at stake, it’s the rights of all.

In prior administrations, the main entry hall at DOJ displayed the portraits of the POTUS, VPOTUS, and AG. Now?

Nice try, @Yankees! You and your torpedo bats are no match for the @Tigers!

As Mary McCord writes, law firms suing Trump over his blackmail executive orders “are winning not just for themselves and their clients, but for the adversarial system that undergirds the rule of law.” Bravo to the firms standing up for the values of our profession.

SCOTUS says due process applies to deportees, but overturns TRO for filing wrong claim in wrong venue. It’s like calling the fire station to report your house is on fire only to have them say you called the wrong station and need to start over.

CJ Roberts has stayed court order to return Md man erroneously deported, but his quick deadline for gov brief shows sense of urgency. Gov argument under Art II here is nonsense. I think it's highly likely SCOTUS orders his return. If not, then all is lost. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/u...

The stock market may be plummeting, but the @Tigers are on the rise. Detroit wins again! Finding joy where I can.

Leah Litman's eye-opening book on the Supreme Court, “LAWLESS: How the Supreme Court Runs on Conservative Grievance, Fringe Theories, and Bad Vibes,” is out May 13 - but you can preorder now. www.simonandschuster.com/books/Lawles... "

Sen Warner condemns Trump’s extension of TikTok deadline in violation of federal law. National security should not be “tradable.” Risk of going dark was part of Congress’s strategy to pressure a sale.

This is Utah in case anyone’s wondering how pissed off people are. I have never seen anything like this.

I have heard from friends who have never protested before that they are joining some of the 1,200 #HandsOff protests across the country today against Trump’s attacks on American values.

Judge Boasberg, a former prosecutor appointed to FISA court by CJ Roberts and a former roommate of Brett Kavanaugh, is hardly a leftist. Good to see him uphold law against Trump admin.

New episode of #SistersInLaw podcast looks at the legal implications of Trump’s tariffs. You can listen here.

Nice to see 500 law firms banding together to support of the rule of law!

Fact-check of Trump’s tariff speech finds some doozies. Why tariffs? Speech suggests they could replace income tax, benefiting wealthy over lower income Americans. When a choice makes no apparent sense, it’s usually about $$$.

Law firms that pay off Trump only encourage more targeting. My thoughts in @cafedotcom.
