Concert poster shows Lübeck St Mary’s where Buxtehude was organist 1668-1707. Bach visited 1705 during Abendmusik season & our prog features some of Buxtehude’s music that Bach might have heard during his stay. We hope that our audience will find it as impressive as Bach did.

#bachconnections Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern a Lutheran hymn by Philipp Nicolai written 1597 & published 1599 in response to 1597 plague. Used by many composers - Buxtehude, Kuhnau, Praetorius. Bach BWV1 ends his 2nd Cantata cycle 1725 with it.
