Trying to decide between these two audio tracks on PremiumBeat: "Save Democracy" or "Empire Rising"

I get it. You’re a jackhammer operator. Every day you’re tearing up broken ass pieces of concrete, sidewalks no one cares about. It gets you down. Then one day you come across this beautiful piece of asphalt. No cracks. Perfectly crowned. And you get to just go at it. The work is its own reward.

CDOT just finished repaving the street and replacement sidewalks and water management is out here today tearing it up again.

CPS is closed today. Not having to wrest a kid out of bed and cajole them out the door by 7:15 puts me in such a better mood for the day. School shouldn’t start so early.

It’s always hilarious when I get a Spotify notification announcing a new album from a long dead classical composer. New album by Tchaikovsky just dropped!

There’s a runner I cross paths with nearly every day as I bike back from school drop-off. He waves, I wave back. I don’t know who he is, and we’re both covered head to toe in cold-weather gear, so I wouldn’t recognize him in any other context. I’m not sure who started waving first.

This is the explainer I needed after watching A Real Pain. As usual, the Indiana Daily Student coming through clutch: www.idsnews.com/article/2025...

Weird to think that the dental hygienist spent all that time imaging my teeth just so it’s easier to identify my corpse

if apple put the charging port on the front of the magic mouse id be done with this jeff goldblum meme by now

Some frame grabs from filming with Tarik Shahzad last Sunday. Tarik set the Cook County birding record last year, spotting 294 unique species in 2024. Tarik guided us along the shore of Lake Michigan in Park No. 566 in South Chicago. Video to come soon on YouTube.

I hit 1500 miles on my @tern today. I’d guess about two thirds of those miles would have been car trips if I didn’t have the bike.

I fought the HOA board and the board won

The hardest party of writing children’s stories is deciding what horrible death will befall the main character’s parents.

We went out to Montrose Harbor a few weeks ago to film Great Lake Jumper Dan O'Conor doing his thing. He says jumping in Lake Michigan "feels like a renewal every day." What's your daily routine? What keeps you fresh? youtube.com/shorts/_wIkx...

I’ve been thinking about Station Eleven a lot today.

The city rebuilt after Sherman burned it to the ground, but a little cold was all it took to throw in the towel.

I’m filming Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty cover bands at Martyrs right now and both of these groups are killing it. Sometimes you just wanna hear the hits.

I was at New Wave Coffee over the holidays and saw this coffin shaped box at the counter. I was intrigued-talking about death is so incredibly hard-so we reached out to Alejandro Salinas and made this video. youtube.com/shorts/o_Ny1...

We interviewed bartender Pam at Loafers today. When I told her my name was Bart, she asked if I was the Bart that’s been banned from all the bars across the city. I don’t think that’s me, but I haven’t asked at every bar.

Lots of ice on the bike ride to school drop off today

A perfect morning to film with the Great Lake Jumper Dan O’Conor at Montrose Harbor. Photos by David DiGangi and me.

What’s the name for the sensation when a noise is so loud it starts to clip in your ears? Like when you’re too close to the speakers at a show. Or when two kids are screaming in the tub when you’re trying to give them a bath?

I’m grateful for my designer friends that very nicely tell me when my designs are boring

Tell us what you really think WHATWG

Great performance by Lee Ketch and his band at Constellation last night. He held the crowd’s attention even in silence.

I’m starting off the new year by pumping my own gas in New Jersey. What a world!

Did the New York Times get rid of The Lives They Loved, which in previous iterations anyone could submit a touching tribute to a person of little renown that they happened to love, and replace it this year with more celebrity idolatry? If so, gross.

Hey you, check out our short film about drummer Tommy Carroll. Blind since the age of two, he’s taught himself to improvise in music and in his daily life. And subscribe to our YouTube channel for more!
