When the Cass Review came out last year, the NYT rushed to cover it complete with post notifications. After reviews in Germany and Utah came out supporting gender affirming care for trans youth, dead silence. You can be just as biased in what you don't cover as what you do.

Death before detransition because detransition is death.

cruel and evil

Tomorrow, I’m off to UC Santa Barbara to talk about Old Norse studies and its relationship with the Indigenous and trans turns in medieval studies - hope to see some folks there ! 🏳️‍⚧️

Having excluded all trans people from proceedings before it, the Supreme Court decides in favour of For Some Women Scotland.

The horrors persist but so does research. Extremely embarrassing question for Norse folks: I *know* snakes/serpents are used as euphemisms for the penis in ON, but where? The best thing I can come up with is Hrútr in Nj. who 'launches wound-snakes'... other examples? #medievalsky

In response to today's supreme court ruling, we want to urge any researcher in Trans Histories to consider a proposal to our new Queer & Trans Histories series - because research into Trans histories will help to shape Trans futures: manchesteruniversitypress.co.uk/series/queer... #TransRights

thinking of my siblings in the UK today. it cannot and crucially will not be this way forever

The UK supreme court today ruled that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act refer to biological sex. Trump's Executive Order 14168, issued on 20 January, similarly proclaims to be ‘Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government’. Judith Butler: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Now there's a memorable stat! "Colleges and universities are among America’s most competitive international exporters. In dollar terms, last year, the United States sold more educational services to the rest of the world than it sold in natural gas and coal combined." wapo.st/3EvzMCI

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.
