My #Robin friend Little Mate chatting today in #Bath #Somerset #UK. He has a Mate now, she's quite shy, so I don't see much of her. Today he brought her a worm, courtship feeding has begun! #Bird #Birds #Birdwatching #Birding #UKBirding #Ornithology #Nature #Wildlife #UKWildlife

My #Robin friends are paired-up and ready for Spring! Hazel has paired up with Henry - the these two have been co-habiting the same territory since the summer. Little Mate also has a mate but she seems very shy at present. In #Bath #UK. #Birds #Nature #Wildlife #BirdPhotography #NaturePhotography

At least there's one good news story about #Bats this week.

🦇 (1/2) In response to the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s speech today: we believe that blaming the laws that protect bats, newts and other wildlife, as well as our wider environment, for planning delays is short sighted and misguided.

My #Robin friend Little Mate chatting this evening in #Bath #Somerset #UK. Yesterday he had another Robin hanging around with him, possibly a mate, but I didn't see her today. #Bird #Birds #Birdwatching #Birding #UKBirding #Ornithology  #Nature #Wildlife #UKWildlife

Wansdyke to the west of Englishcombe, near #Bath #Somerset #UK. Despite centuries of study, we're still not sure who built it or why. It was probably the Romano-British or the early Saxons, & may have been for defence or a political boundary. #History #Archaeology #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

The large wooded Iron Age hillfort of Stantonbury Camp, on the line of the later Wansdyke. Next to it is the smaller Winsbury hill, named 'Wineca's Fort' in a 10th Century charter. At Stanton Prior, near #Bath #Somerset #UK. #History #Archaeology #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

Three Shires Stones, marking the point where the counties of #Somerset #Wiltshire & #Gloucestershire meet. The large 'cromlech' was erected in 1859, but the smaller stones are engraved with the date 1736, but they were mentioned as early as 1611. A 10th Century Charter refers to the 'one stone'.

Found a nice Roe Deer buck skull with the horns still attached, in a field today somewhere on the outskirts of #Bath #Somerset #UK. #Nature #Wildlife #Skull

My #Robin friend Little Mate chatting this morning. This is just his chatter, or subsong. In the early mornings and evenings he perches high up in his trees and sings properly - it's a wonderful sound. In #Bath #Somerset #UK. #Bird #Birds #Birding #UKBirding #Ornithology #Nature #Wildlife

One of my favourite photos of my original #Robin friend, Ribin (sadly no longer with us), the father of my current Robin friend, Little Mate. The first time I met Ribin, he perched on my boot & started following me around. I saw him nearly every day for 3 years. #Birds #Wildlife #Nature

The earthwork remains of Culverhay Castle, Englishcombe, near #Bath #Somerset #UK. A Norman ringwork castle that formely had a curtain wall, a keep and a well, and was owned by the de Gournay family, one member of which was accused of the murder of King Edward II. #History #Archaeology #Landscape

The Wansdyke as it descends into the valley by Breach Wood, Englishcombe, #Bath #Somerset #UK. Supposedly a Romano-British or Saxon boundary, but there are various interpretations of it. Nearby are the remains of some medieval manorial buildings. #Archaeology #History #Landscape
