#NowWatching The Crater Lake Monster For Day Twenty of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out a low budget dinosaur film that features stop-motion effects by David Allen and Jim Danforth, the same duo from When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.

Happy 27th anniversary to Wild Things, which follows a police detective who uncovers a conspiracy behind a case involving a high-school guidance counselor and two female students. Neve Campbell's contract for Party of Five prevented her from doing any real nudity.

#NowWatching The Last Dinosaur For Day Nineteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out a Japanese/American tokusatsu co-production that was produced by Rankin/Bass. I wanted to check this one out after finding out @harrisonsmith85.bsky.social wrote a book about it.

Happy 48th anniversary to Eraserhead, which follows a man who is left to care for his grossly deformed child in a desolate industrial landscape. When production of the film took longer than expected, David Lynch slept in the same room used as Henry's bedroom for over a year.

#NowWatching Queen Kong For Day Eighteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out a parody of the 1976 King Kong except with a giant female gorilla being infatuated with a male version of Ann Darrow. From that description, it sounds both dumb and somewhat amusing.

Happy 31st anniversary to Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, the third and final installment in the Naked Gun film series. Frank and Rocco's prison escape tunnel leads them to Shorewood High School, which is named after a real-life high school in the Milwaukee area.

#NowWatching Beware! The Blob For Day Seventeen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out the second entry in The Blob franchise, which also happens to be the only one I haven’t seen. Judging by the reviews, it’ll be nowhere near as good as the 1958 original or 1988 remake.

Happy 20th anniversary to V for Vendetta, based on the Vertigo Comics limited series of the same name. The Guy Fawkes mask V wears was later adopted by the online hacktivist group Anonymous as a symbol of anonymity and defiance against oppression.

#NowWatching When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth For Day Sixteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out the third entry in Hammer's Cave Girl series. This is the second Hammer film I've watched during this marathon, but I'm hoping it’s way better than The Lost Continent.

Happy 100th anniversary to The Monster (1925), based on the stage play of the same name by Crane Wilbur. The Monster is often cited as being an early example of an “old dark house" movie.

#NowWatching The Lost World (1960) As you may be aware, I'm currently participating in #MonsterMarchMadness. I was going to add this movie to my list but since it’s being shown on #svengoolie tonight, I had to check it out.

#NowWatching Space Amoeba For Day Fifteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm revisiting one of the most bonkers Kaiju films I’ve ever seen. I saw it once many years ago and didn’t care for it, but I wonder if my opinion has changed since then.

Happy 29th anniversary to Executive Decision, which is about a group of US Army Special Forces members trying to rescue the passengers of an airliner hijacked by terrorists. The airline brand featured in the film, Oceanic, was also used in the television series Lost.

#NowWatching Pin Tonight, the #FFBMovieNight folks and I are checking out a film about a plastic medical dummy. I’ll admit the plot sounds ridiculous, but a lot of people like this one, so I’m excited to watch it.

#NowWatching The Mighty Gorga For Day Fourteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out what might be one of the worst King Kong ripoffs ever released. I’m genuinely curious to see if this is worse than A*P*E.

Happy 99th anniversary to The Bat (1926), based on the 1920 play of the same name by Mary Roberts Rinehart and Avery Hopwood. For several decades, The Bat was considered to be a lost film until a print was discovered in the 1980s.

#NowWatching The Green Slime For Day Thirteen of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out the movie that was featured in the unaired pilot episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Can the film live up to the cool poster?

Happy 33rd anniversary to My Cousin Vinny, which follows a personal injury lawyer who has to defend two young men who were mistakenly charged with murder. Because the converted warehouse that housed the courtroom set had a corrugated metal roof, temperatures surpassed 100 °F.

#NowWatching The Lost Continent For Day Twelve of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out one of the many dinosaur films made by @hammerfilms.bsky.social. Can it live up to the awesomeness of One Million Years B.C.?

Happy birthday to Frank Welker, who is most well-known for voicing various characters in the Transformers franchise, such as Megatron and Soundwave, Fred Jones and the titular character in the Scooby-Doo franchise, and Stripe in Gremlins, among hundreds of others.

#NowWatching The X from Outer Space For Day Eleven of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out what might be the most bizarre Japanese monster movie ever made. Will it be as weird, if not more so, than Godzilla vs. Hedorah? Time to find out.

Happy birthday to Johnny Knoxville, who is the co-creator and star of Jackass and its subsequent movies. He also played Irving Zisman in Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, Luke Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard (2005), and voiced Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).

#NowWatching Wrath of Daimajin For Day Ten of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out the final installment in the Daimajin trilogy. The previous two were pretty good, so I have a good feeling I’ll also like this one.

Happy birthday to Chuck Norris, who is most well-known for playing Colt in The Way of the Dragon, Ranger J.J. McQuade in Lone Wolf McQuade, Colonel James Braddock in the Missing in Action trilogy, and Agent Matt Hunter in Invasion U.S.A., among many others.

Like in previous years, I encountered some awesome cosplayers at the Louisiana Comic Con. I also got a photo with Fred Williamson, the legendary badass from Black Caesar, Hell Up in Harlem, and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Good afternoon, #MutantFam! I just got back from my trip to the Louisiana Comic Con. I got autographs from David Yost, Fred Williamson, Charles Wright, John Ratzenberger, and Lori Petty. I also got some art prints of Rogue, Gambit, and Harley Quinn from Aaron Williamson Art.

#NowWatching Return of Daimajin For Day Nine of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out the second installment in the Daimajin trilogy. I saw the first one last year and liked it, so I'm hoping this one will be just as good.

Happy 47th anniversary to Starcrash, which follows a smuggler and her alien companion who are recruited to protect Earth from the evil Count Zarth Arn. In an interview, Christopher Plummer admitted he agreed to be in the film so he could visit Italy for free.

#NowWatching Matango For Day Eight of #MonsterMarchMadness, I'm checking out another lesser-known Toho film but this one deals with grotesque fungal creatures. Bizarre premise aside, this looks good.

Happy 29th anniversary to Hellraiser: Bloodline, the fourth installment in the Hellraiser franchise. This was the last entry to have any major involvement from series creator Clive Barker until the 2022 reboot.

Allegedly, audiences in 1925 screamed or fainted during the Phantom’s unmasking scene. Whether or not this is true, we can all agree that, after one hundred years, this is one of the most iconic and terrifying moments in all of cinema. #TheLastDriveIn

If we’re not counting the 1925 adaptation, which version of The Phantom of the Opera is your favorite? Mine is either the 1990 miniseries with Charles Dance or Phantom of the Paradise (thank you for the recommendation, @darcythemailgirl.bsky.social). #TheLastDriveIn

The opera house set was housed in Stage 28, which was one of the oldest soundstages on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot. People claimed Stage 28 was haunted by the ghost of Lon Chaney, just like how the Paris Opera House was haunted by the Phantom. #TheLastDriveIn
