Thinking about U.S. Army regimental cap badges that aren't crests for my alt history

It's getting late but I didn't want to go to bed without posting Part 2 of US Airborne in WW2. Please enjoy! open.substack.com/pub/jhausdor...

Bring back the old font?

Fuck it, close enough. Welcome back leader of the free world

AI comment replies got my ass

Hey friends, I started a substack in order to write up on some things that I don't think many people know much about. In this case how US Airborne Forces got their start in WW2. For those more academically inclined, please go easy on me! Enjoy! open.substack.com/pub/jhausdor...

🇨🇦 A Canadian Mechanized Company (A Coy, 2 PPCLI) augmented for deployment to Latvia in late 2022. You can download the high res version & other infantry unit graphics here: www.battleorder.org/post/infantry

"French Engineers need to chill out", I say Chris Cappily

🇫🇷 This is a French Caesar 155mm Artillery Tactical Sub-Group (SGTA) generated by 68e RAA in 2019 for a deployment to the UAE, reinforcing the 5th Cuirassier Regiment’s battle group. For more artillery graphics: www.battleorder.org/post/artyada

This is such a niche thing and I don't expect it to be for most people but I do hope enough of you enjoy it. Also I am not looking to undermine or duplicate what @battleorder.org does. I can never hope to achieve what he has; only supplement.

🇺🇸 New video on specialized teams designed to scour & eliminate WMD production infrastructure and aid in nuclear forensics after a nuclear/dirty bomb detonation. They were in the news for going into nuclear power plants with the Rangers and Green Berets to shut them down youtu.be/UDVZ8akLLLo

lol got a US Army Command and General Staff College class linking to my site

🇬🇧 The curiosity of the short-lived British Light Protected Mobility Company as per Army 2020 (c. 2014/15) before being replaced by Army 2020 Refine a few years later. It was notable for its used of the Foxhound PPV. For more Infantry Company and Platoon graphics: www.battleorder.org/post/infantry

Sneak peek

🇺🇸 The U.S. Army M109A1 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer FA Battery, as per the late H-Series TO&E (roughly 1980). These supported Armored/Mechanized Divisions and Separate Brigades. For more artillery & air defense battery graphics: www.battleorder.org/post/artyada

🇺🇸 US Army Hazard Response CBRN Companies provide chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) hazard recon, surveillance, assessment, and decontamination support. They're aligned to support brigade combat teams. For more combat support company graphics: www.battleorder.org/post/support

Mashallah we have been granted a bountiful harvest

Didn’t realize until last year that the Olive the Other Reindeer quote was referencing something

🇲🇽 New video that overviews the origins and evolution of the Mexican Marine Corps, its current high-level structure, the nature of its cooperation with the United States, and why they're perceived as one of the most trusted institutions in the fight against the cartels youtu.be/_lMN2g0OQts

I see where the menswear guy is coming from about skinny jeans

🇺🇸 The US Army M777 155mm cannon battery supporting Infantry Brigade Combat Teams, not including attachments. It follows the typical set up of 2 firing platoons, each with its own FDC and 3 guns. I've revamped the artillery and air defense gallery on my site: www.battleorder.org/post/artyada

Now that's cute

Is the US imploding via the power grab of an unelected billionaire? Kind of! Will the systematic damage to our institutions take a decade to fix? Probably! Good news! I updated my list of NatSec people! They'll also assure you things are going poorly in fun and exciting ways! go.bsky.app/L8jnuau

First tests of swarming drones in Sweden by the Dal Regiment. www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/nya-...

interception guide old and should be redone but thought I should repost some MI things here

Most stories I hear about DFR basically is they’re incompetent and put up roadblocks to joining. It’s like the Australian government contracted a security company to safeguard those juicy ADF salaries from the proles www.aspistrategist.org.au/too-slow-and...

Went patch hunting for the Support Forces branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and managed to fill in a good bunch of units.

🇺🇸 The U.S. Army Avenger Air Defense Artillery Battery when part of a ADA Composite Battalion (Patriot/Avenger). This differs from the battery part of Avenger Battalions in that it has 4 Avenger Platoons, 24 Avengers, and 4 Sentinel radars instead of 2 platoons, 12 Avengers, and 2 Sentinels

Since #ORBATboys seems to have partially moved to bluesky, I might as well post some of my ORBATs here. Presenting the US 26th Infantry Division, from my home state of Massachusetts, as of late WW2.

Been on a RevWar kick as of late, so here's the ORBAT of the 33rd Regiment of Foot c. 1775 before its departure for the American Colonies. Special thanks to Dr. Robbie MacNiven for his excellent book "The Pattern" and @spatialillusion.bsky.social for his superb Battle Staff tools #ORBATboys

The order of battle for the 7th Flieger Division in preparation for Unternehmen Herkules, the (aborted) invasion of Malta #ORBATBoys

🇺🇸 U.S. Army Infantry Air-Borne Battalion. They were experimental units formed to develop airlanding tactics, aircraft loading techniques, and teaming with parachute forces. They were the direct predecessor to America’s wartime glider infantry

🇺🇸 U.S. Army Transportation Railway Operating Battalion from 1962. These guys liked trains The battalion in the early 60s was similar in the late 1960s-1970s, but companies were attached rather than organic during that later period and the internal organization was slightly different.
