THE GORGE is so much fun. See it. Now.

➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

There should be a thing/feed where I just get to watch SNL promos (all of the years) and raw footage could just be icing on a very happy cake.

The administration took down the reproductive rights website that women need access to. So The Skimm bought a url and brought the content back. Pass this on! Go to reproductiverightsdotgov.com

Saks has SNL50 inspired stuff. I was excited until I saw it and read the prices. Besides that, great idea! www.saksfifthavenue.com/c/the-edit-c...

on the hunt for a news editor to join my team at movieweb! must haves: - excellent proofreading skills - nearly offensive dedication to grammar - at least 5 years writing/editing for entertainment websites - strong POV - sense of humor - understands social media if that's you, hit me up

Christmas joy.

Do I have the creepiest Santa in all the land? (Which my wife grew up with and doesn’t find troubling at all.)

Beautiful. youtu.be/o4OlL0OpbW8?...

HERETIC - I’m ready for many more versions of Hugh Grant making me terribly uncomfortable. Even when you think you know where it’s going, there are plenty of creepy zags.

CONCLAVE: So good. Watching Ralph Fiennes looking stressed is a wonderful way to pass the time. More John Lithgow would have been nice, but I say that all the time. Also, PG! Your kids will LOVE it.

Sorry to hear of FSR’s end. @fakerobhunter.bsky.social is a hero for holding on. I liked my Remedial Film School. Thanks again to @drewmcweeny.com, @katerbland.bsky.social, @theamynicholson.bsky.social, @ericdsnider.bsky.social, and more! Read while you can - filmschoolrejects.com/author/bayer...

Saw 7 films to/from Tokyo. All received a B from me, which either means I was lucky, altitude affects me, or I’ve lost my critic skills. - Between the Temples - The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare - Anyone But You - Alien: Romulus - Kinds of Kindness - The Bikeriders - Bad Boys: Ride or Die

Give me a single image from a film that immediately makes you hear the song from the soundtrack playing in your head.

2024 was a year of professional milestones: 10 years at ScreenCrush, 20 years writing about movies. So I decided to see if I could find all 20 of my year-end lists to preserve them all in one place. So here’s two decades of my favorite movies. My picks are ... less embarrassing than I expected!

In line at 6:38am for Tokyo DisneySea, while my family still sleeps. Park opens at 9, but sometimes a little earlier. Nothing can be booked until you get through the gate. This is next level nuts, and I think I’m ready for it.

My favorite fall was Portland in 2008. Now it is Kyoto in 2024. Never thought it’d be beaten.

And now, Monkey Park (still in Kyoto).

When I was a kid, my dream was to have a pet river otter teach my pet chimpanzee how to swim. That didn’t work out, but feeling those paws in my hand today was pretty… pretty good.

Anyone else drinking a deep steamed green tea IPA & sake tasting set, while eating gyoza with a geisha on a date sitting behind them? (Now in Kyoto).

Thankfully, we survived this art installation with nothing stuck to our face or bursting from our chest.

Ghibli Museum in Tokyo is lovely. No photos allowed inside, thankfully, this is outside.

GLAD2 is a bloody good time. Nothing worked for me emotionally, but thankfully that wasn’t needed.

I leave for Japan in 3 days and my brain simply won’t believe it.

Family Switch and Candy Cane Lane are on my radar for family movie nights over winter break. Anyone think either is … good?

Sick day for my 11-year-old. So it’s time to introduce him to a beast.

Reskeeetleydoodaday with a photo where you look a lil bit menacing

This is 47.

I’m still upset that Buster Scruggs was bested.
