(1/) After covering owls, this week’s ‘’Talon Spotting’ species trend is Raven. This species has not only increased across the UK in recent years, it has also spread into areas where it was not previously present. @btobirds.bsky.social @jncc.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social #Ornithology

Using an adaptation to the field method employed by nearly 3,000 BBS surveyors each year, this study shows that extensively managed solar farms in The Fens with boundary hedges/trees supported more farmland & woodland birds. #ornithology @rspb.bsky.social @jncc.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social

@bbs-birds.bsky.social data shows Turtle Dove to have the fastest rate of decline of any UK breeding bird since 1994. Whilst improving productivity and adult survival are important, this study suggests increasing adult survival could have the greatest benefits. @rspb.bsky.social #ornithology

(1/) Are you looking at me?! This week’s ‘Talon Spotting’ species focus is Little Owl. This species has declined across the UK in recent times. However, due to its unobtrusive nature, it may be overlooked in some areas. @btobirds.bsky.social @jncc.bsky.social @rspbscience.bsky.social #Ornithology

1/ The @naturescot.bsky.social Scottish indicators were published last week. The data, a lot from @[email protected] from 94-23, show how Scottish birds are doing in different habitats. Woodland birds are doing relatively well, but upland birds are in decline. www.nature.scot/doc/official...
