every one of these deregulated markets guys is a regulated market guy who hasn’t been punched in the face yet

I used to select Dem primary candidates based on policy. Now I will aggressively try to destroy any Dem who says "we need to look forward not backward" and fervently support anyone who says "I will see these motherfuckers prosecuted and jailed if it's the last thing I do."

Pretty much everything is fucked, but here is some beautiful and exciting science from @archaeon-alex.bsky.social and colleagues. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

I’m going out on a limb and saying today was a good day on balance.

"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Speech is protected for all in the US, not just citizens. Revoking visas for protected speech is illegal.

Yup. The US Digital Service was formed from Big Tech SREs. Top level SREs really are elite level problem solvers and trouble makers of the highest order. Many are trans, queer, or at the very least, care about LGBTQIA people, and will end you if you talk disrespectfully about them.

What the fuckus is a ruckus, and why does it warrant immediate detention and deportation?

I’m sorry but I’m still thinking about the Secretary of Defense texting “We are currently clean on OPSEC” to a group chat that, unbeknownst to him, included the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic magazine.

Yeah, the German Weimar Republic literally tried to do this to wipe out the reparations debt from the Treaty of Versailles. Definitely no problems with that strategy. First rate plan, no notes.

1000% OPSEC right here.

Oleg Gordievsky passed away. One of the greatest spy stories of the Cold War. Read Ben MacIntyre’s book The Spy and the Traitor. True history as gripping as any spy novel out there. www.thetimes.com/uk/obituarie...

1. For the past thirty years I've had the best job in the world.
I've had the opportunity to follow my curiosity; explore the workings of nature and society; mentor students and junior colleagues in the same process; and teach generations of students about it all.

if you just scan the headline — or if you’re just uncurious — you’ll think this is a “trump bad” piece but if you read it you’ll find that it is my attempt to explain what makes something “anti-constitutional” and why that is distinct from an “unconstitutional” act.

Thinking about starting a Twitter account that I just use to post “Fuck you!” at people.
