Lots of positive crime trends in Minneapolis according to the city’s public Crime Dashboard. Here’s a Rolling 12 Month Sum chart showing that reported gunshot wound victimization is now at its lowest point since June 2020. Its on pace to fall again once I add February.

With 3 of 6 bike bridges set to be closed simultaneously this summer, + the completion of Hennepin/1st bikeways on the east side of the river, there’s never been a better time for the County to plop down some jersey barriers to protect riders in the dangerous Hennepin/1st bridge bike lanes!

The flip side is that these speed cameras will protect all the residents who use these roads/sidewalks and have been getting injured at a higher rate by ppl driving dangerously. The program has been thoughtfully designed not to be punitive, but to effect behavior change (slower speeds).

76 people were murdered in Minneapolis last year. Our city desperately needs Neighborhood Safety Department staff that can write smart and flexible contracts, then award those contracts ethically! They also need to rely more on data, and collaborate better with other public safety partners.

Yes. While there are absolutely things Democrats can and must do to slow, obstruct, etc, GOP hold both House and Senate majorities, severely limiting our options. Johnson and Thune are handing over the own keys and relinquishing their own power. Even for the cynics this should be a shock.

I bought this nice framed print of a 1952 painting by Mexican artist Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo’s at a recent estate sale. The writing on the back mentions Saint Paul’s sister city in Manzanillo, México. Saint Paul sent Manzanillo their first fire truck and municipal ambulance. Also a Peanuts statue.

TikTok was the first time (for me) where virality felt within reach for anyone who posted attention-grabbing content. I got 500,000 views off two goofy/scary videos featuring the Theodore Wirth caveman. I quickly learned that the caveman was the star, not me.
