A few novels have come quite close, but Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro are the only two I've read so far that I would call perfect, absolutely flawless masterpieces. Which novels do you feel this way about?

Could we please not call other human beings maggots? Using dehumanizing language to denigrate other people doesn't fight fascism, it serves it. Besides, maggots play an important role in our ecosystem-- no need for them to be catching strays in all this.
