"I Have Not Yet Begun to Fight" 9/23/1779: John Paul Jones refused to surrender in a fight with the 44-gun Royal Navy frigate Serapis, even though his ship was burning & sinking. Only hours later, it was the Serapis that surrendered & Jones took command.
