Almost a year ago I left AWS to bootstrap my open source project. I get asked why create an open source project? Why not close source and get folks to pay.... I want to share my journey with others, so here is my first post. boyney123.substack.com/p/why-is-you...

Progress with EventCatalog Studio Added the ability to add services, commands, queries and events. Next is the ability to export/import these diagrams to OpenAPI, AsyncAPI and EventCatalog. Everything is local first, no database, all using browser database ❤️

Og der fikk vi som ikke er glade i Ola Borten Moe nok en grunn til å mislike fyren... Gikk mot eget parti og hindrer gjennomgang av #helseplattformen

Today, I’m reminded that those who experience imposter syndrome likely shouldn’t, and those who don’t, probably should. Ironically, the self-awareness that fuels imposter syndrome is often the very thing that ensures you’re not an imposter at all.

Great read. I would say I think it’s less “beware of single vendor” - it’s more “get comfortable with forking as a natural extension of community”. If you’re using single vendor oss, not paying for it, and it disappeared tomorrow - be ready to fork. That’s the contract.

This blog post is deep, but it’s a must read for people who care about the relationships between open source and money driven economies. The intersection of those two is historically fraught, but Andrew treats the topic exceptionally well :)

My keynote from #CfgMgmtCamp is now up! This talk was very special to me. It was also incredibly hard: It turns out its hard to write a talk during a coup. Who knew? I gave it a shot, though. The world can never erase us no matter how hard it tries. I'm still me ❤️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBJd...

Meta torrented over 81.7TB of pirated books to train AI, authors say https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/02/meta-torrented-over-81-7tb-of-pirated-books-to-train-ai-authors-say/

New: We spoke to government IT employees/contractors about DOGE. Their warnings were dire. The people who maintain the systems that keep the country working are terrified. "This is the largest data breach and the largest IT security breach in our country’s history—at least that’s publicly known."

Excellent news! If you do nothing different, your AWS bill will be 10% lower for February than January. No need to thank me, it’s what I do.

Platform teams don't exist. In reality, they are infrastructure management teams 😈 Kief Morris @ #cfgmgmtcamp cfp.cfgmgmtcamp.org/ghent2025/ta...

Anyone know how we can set up a feed generator in a good way for the conference hashtag? Or any better ways of aggregation? Searching and tapping around the app gets old quickly #cfgmgmtcamp

Love the reference to "modern orchestrations" versus operating databases 😈 glhf; #cfgmgmtcamp #kubernetes

Two red herrings? 😱 Should we add more observability? Sad 🐼 db questions on threads and pools versus mental models ❤️ cfp.cfgmgmtcamp.org/ghent2025/sp... #cfgmgmtcamp

Incidents versus issues. Lovely defined terminology from Laura Nolan. cfp.cfgmgmtcamp.org/ghent2025/sp... #cfgmgmtcamp

Choose what to panic about.

The #cfgmgmtcamp dinner track might be the most tricky one of the day, but as some people will know there are really just two options (and two crowds) but also, this will depend on the day of the week 😜 Ribs 🐏 or sushi 🍣 Later today Waterhuis very likely since Comic Sans is closed on mondays
