hey trans folk you guys are brave and i support you the people who don't think you are cool are losers (and to the trans folk who are pro-Trump, i don't like you, but that only nullifies the second clause, not the first, and i'm not going to deadname you regardless)

Maybe the Mandela Effect has more to do with the tendency of people to have a profoundly deluded belief in the fundamental and unassailable truth of their memories, when most everything that we know about the human brain should instead inspire in us a deep epistemic humility?

Is sociopathy a disability and what do we do about that if so? I mean I also don’t know what to do about it if it’s not, but I’m just trying to find a way to frame it in my mind.

I have a pair of dark green shorts and a pale red singlet and when I wear them together I feel like a cozy lil olive

Hitler said the Third Reich would last 1000 years. It lasted 12 and he died cowering in a bunker. Fascism always fails.

It's been almost six months and I have to say it: I'd much rather use Camera Control on my iPhone as a button to invoke Spotlight search anywhere than whatever overcomplicated mess it is right now 😅 (My dream: invoke Spotlight, swipe up and down for search results, click to select and open)

As a mediocre white man, I feel the world has really turned against me of late.

How much does wood cost in Bali or Thailand? If I could buy two long stakes and a hammock I could just make my own sea hammock, right? #TheWhiteLotus

Someone’s gonna Luigi Elon soon, right?

A gentle thought: if you enjoy physics games you’ll probably enjoy sport. * many caveats apply, I agree

what a spineless fuck the Australian PM is i mean i know that's been clear for a while but...ugh

Maybe the real problem (engagement-wise) is that I don't reply to many people here. This is my private alt. I can't always support the people I want to support the ways I want to support them because I'm already doing that elsewhere and I don't know how to disguise myself.

Regarding my timeline, I'm still getting drunk, sadly (in at least the two main senses). I have a meeting tomorrow. I am not looking forward to it but during it I will be forced to confront this. Good vibes are very openly accepted. (Defensively: This is three paragraphs! No one reads that far!)

I often make people chuckle, and while I very much want that to be because they find my comments and/or demeanor amusing, I worry that it's because they find me disconcerting (ralphwiggumimindanger.gif).

Wow, a ceasefire! In unrelated news I'm now declaring myself a teetotaler each night after I finish a bottle of vodka.

I have a job and I have income protection via superannuation. Is rehab a valid thing I can receive income protection for?

Still literally wondering. I'd ask an LLM but it would so easily lie to me.

Certainly the greatest cartoonist I ever had the pleasure to read.

The film I'm watching has subtitles for every character but *not* Martin Freeman or anyone he happens to be talking to.

I haven’t checked yet but I hope some of my favourite leftist podcasters are indulging just a little bit in health insurance conspiracy theories this week. In the time of W., I craved the warm embrace of The West Wing. Now, on the crest of another four years of Trump, nihilism comforts.

Must return to Singapore for Shake Shack ASAP. Probably would need to sleep on the street to afford three meals a day but I mean it seems like a pretty nice place to sleep on the street tbh. But also it might be illegal? Is it illegal to sleep on the street in Singapore? (Or in a park?)

I always forget that many people I like (both personally and in the abstract) are grossed out by earnestness even though I too am grossed out by earnestness.

I really really like documentaries about mountain climbing.

It has just occurred to me that I don't know what colour eyes any of my friends, colleagues, or relatives have. I'm sure that's unusual, but is it more common among ADHD (me) or ASD (possibly me) folk? Just the combo of a general reticence to make eye contact and bad memory, or something else?
