Great to see @sfha.bsky.social and Wheatley Group report included on @thinkhouseinfo.bsky.social. @briansfha.bsky.social @carolynl.bsky.social #StillWaiting

Proud to launch this new report today, which puts the voices of people still waiting for a social home at the heart of the debate. As the Scottish Budget is finalised, we need to see safe, warm, affordable rented homes as an absolutely top priority.

This report from @sfha.bsky.social and Wheatley Group on the experience of people waiting for a social home is essential reading. #HousingEmergency

Hand up not hand out. "While receiving the EMA, students earned less from part-time work, suggesting they spent less time in paid employment alongside their studies. This reduced exposure to the labour market appears to have had lasting consequences."

Great to see our research highlighted in @insidehousing.bsky.social. The interviews were really powerful and show how trapped people can be without suitable, affordable housing. Shows how diverse need is and how much social housing can offer people.

Interested to read this use of flexible tenancies for larger homes by Barnsley MBC. Fixed term tenancies were introduced as a tool to help with lack of supply to meet demand but have fallen out of favour. www.msn.com/en-gb/money/...

Government just announced it will respond to the final Grenfell Tower Inquiry recommendations tomorrow. Key points from the report below www.insidehousing.co.uk/insight/gren...

Oh hey insurers complaining about volume of calls to your helplines, how about next time you post out renewal documents you include the discount that you would give if someone threatened to cancel? Might stop people having to ring for the discount or jumping through hoops on your website.

Really pleased to see this report from Altair Ltd published by @sfha.bsky.social and Wheatley Group. Very grateful to those who shared their experiences with me - hope the research makes a difference to investment in social housing in Scotland so that everyone who needs a home can have one.

My half-term thoughts - Numberblocks on CBeebies is great. Never thought I would hear a child of mine say “I love Maths” and choose doing Maths activities for fun.

It’s good to see the impact of anti-social behaviour receiving coverage by mainstream media. Even better if it talked about the need for better support for perpetrators, rather than just prosecution. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The housebuilding industry has to constantly defend itself against two inter-related theories about land supply that refuse to be debunked. The first is that builders hoard land and the second is that abolishing hope value will speed up site delivery. samuelstafford.blogspot.com/2025/02/on-h...

Down with this. About halfway through my career and have approximately eight pensions and I am fearful I've forgotten one along the way.

This is such a mess. "Inside Housing also spoke to a leaseholder whose building completed a four-year cladding remediation project last year, who said she is again unable to sell her home because it was signed off as safe by Mr Kiziak." www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/five-mp...

Ahh, there we go, moths aren't vermin but infestations of them should be declared to potential house purchasers. Maybe this will finally put the brakes on house price rises in London and the South East. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Why we need more supported housing. In England, housing association supported housing stock has grown by 0.1% (around 400 units) since 2007, despite the population over 18 growing by 12% www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Ahead of Valentines, I would like to share my in-depth, meticulously researched assessment of what you need to find in a perfect partner: same walking speed and same toaster setting. End.

Data people, is there a good way to create a Likert scale graph in Excel? One that doesn’t require an add in. I’ve fiddled with different ways but they come up short.

Find it hilarious that one of me and my primary school classmates favourite films in the early 90s was Pretty Woman. So much went over my head.

Great demonstration of how political decisions make a difference. We don’t have to accept child poverty. We can do better with political will.
