A New Orleans pour is way stronger than a repressed Connecticut pour.

I downloaded The Four Seasons from Netflix to watch on my flight. Tina Fey paid homage to her Cville days with a scene where their old college favorite The Hot Spot is gone post-pandemic. The specialty? A burger with fried egg on top.

Tonight's shabbat candles and flowers. We're an interfaith family so, tonight's prayer is from the Franciscan tradition. The prayer itself is in the alt text description of the photo.

On the first Friday in May, we drink lavendar matcha lattes.

Well, this is sad.

These are dark times, but there are bright spots. Today i was a Queen Bee with no hints.

At the Bridgeport Board of Education meeting where they are looking at millions of dollars of cuts. Mind you, the state is sitting on almost 6 billion dollars in surplus that the governor won't release. This is a manufactured crisis to destroy Connecticut's urban schools.

I bought matcha today. Then, I bought Dubai Chocolate. Now we are watching Conclave. I am the most basic of basic white women.

In our effort to build and support community, we went to Urbanscapes nursery in the Newhallville neighborhood of New Haven today and bought 3 native plants to fill in some of the holes in our front yard. It's run by the Audobon society and employs young people from the neighborhood.

That didn’t take long. Allegedly, the photos are of Reid standing next to drag queens.

Who needs to cut DEI when we are behaving like this? If DEI is only lip service and window dressing, nothing will ever change. Lamont's grandstanding that we are working tirelessly to ensure that every child has the best starting line in life is gaslighting. ctmirror.org/2025/04/16/c...

So, what's the plan? The state has almost 6 billion dollars in a surplus fund that the governor won't release. That's our money, and he's holding on to it instead of spending it on things that might literally save the lives of children.

When they say that previous popes have been buried in multiple coffins, how does that work? Are two of them empty? Is it a nesting dolls situation? I'm assuming the pope isn't divided between the three coffins, right? Right??

These are the real hillbillies, not like that shillbilly vice president.

And youngkin is *bragging* about the arrests he has allowed.

It's expense voucher day for me. My least favorite day. Every time I force myself to have a Voucher Day, I think of this 12 year old story.

"Right now, and right here, we have our fight to build a city with true freedom. It will not be easy, and it may not be the most popular thing to do. But ease and popularity has never mattered much for a city that knows justice is won in each generation."

What's a girl got to do to make the city of New Haven respond to sidewalk issues on their SeeClickFix website? People stumble on this damaged sidewalk all the time, and now the tree is destroying the street, too. (Not to mention our sewer line). I don't want my dad to fall while he is visiting.

We went to the Yale Peabody Museum today as part of being tourists in our new hometown. Glad to see acknowledgement of Yale's profit from enslavement and institutional racism in the tech exhibit. Curious why they mentioned nothing about the indigenous people they dug up and only returned this winter

Why are all the news outlets saying the Maryland man was “mistakenly” deported? He was illegally deported. Is this why I was told recently that my best trait is calling a thing a thing and not worrying about people’s feelings about the thing?

The egg exploded while I was roasting it for the seder plate and now my oven is asking me to sign into an app and connect it to the internet. I don't need my oven online, do I? What's it going to do? TikTok dances?

חַג פֵּסַח שַׂמֵחַ Next year, may we all be free.

I hate the way the author frames the Mahmoud case, but I agree with the general concept. And I shudder to think what happens if they decide that public funds can go to religious schools AND that parents can’t opt their kids out of curriculum that goes against their religious beliefs.

Earlier today, I saw a bird drop a large fish from its talons. The fish landed rather unceremoniously in the middle of the left southbound lane od Rt. 8/25 in Bridgeport. At least your day is going better than that fish's.

Interrupting your nightly scroll to remind you that I am sitting in a board meeting where they are trying to cut $30 million from a bare bones budget while our Democratic governor is refusing to release $5.6 BILLION (WITH A B) in state surplus money. Do better, Connecticut.

Bridgeport Public Schools finance committee meeting. Presentation on doomsday scenario cuts if no add'l state $. It's bad. Real bad. All kindergarten paras--CUT. All librarians--CUT All classes at max class size. Cuts to social workers, counselors and APs. 5 day furlough for all staff.

Putting on my best teacher voice. "Now JD, if you choose to do mean things to your friends, your friends can choose to not be your friend anymore."
