You're periodic reminder that IQ is bullshit. And while I'm at it, so are polygraphs.

So I fired up Final Fantasy XVI for the first time since I beat the game over a year ago and goddamn is that game relaxing. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is tense has hell. Every chapter of FF7Rebirth has 10 new mini games you gotta beat or you're not gonna get the thing you need to finish the quest.

Consider this: Marvel vs. DC vs. Godzilla. vs. Gamera

Went on vacation to The Desert and took some picks from the car while I was a passenger. As much as I hate the oppressive heat of deserts in SoCal and Arizona, I can't deny there's a beauty to them. Hills, mountains, rock formations, and cactuses give the surroundings a surreal quality.

Anyone?

Zut! Not to mention alors!

Huh, a personal website? Just two years ago, they would have started an official twitter account for updates. And probably a few other social media accounts as well. I wonder if they still have.

Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert review Star Trek II on the old PBS show Sneak Previews. Notice that they give "yes" or "no" to weather or not they recommend the movie, not 👍 or 👎. youtu.be/KFOqq2w92ss?...

Quick intro to Sydette's amazing "Baby has hat" from a talk she did in 2018!

I kind of want a video game where you play a trading card game, but you don't pay extra for packs or whatever. It's all in -game currency. No DLC, just a game. Like the card games in Final Fantasy, but it's just the card game. Like, you buy the game, but you gain cards over time.

For those like me who still buy downloads, qobuz.com have got a fairly major download sale on, 30-80% off a bunch of stuff. Using this to pick up a load of canonical albums I'll need to deal with but somehow don't actually own copies of for dirt cheap.

The voice of God in ST V was George Murdock, who was in an episode of T.J. Hooker and then in two episodes of ST:TNG.

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in February, 1818. He later chose to celebrate his birthday on February 14th.

Ha! I knew it! David Warner is in both Star Trek V and VI! They just keep putting everyone in new makeup! I love it.

Ok, I'm at the end of this weird movie and the comedy only works half the time. The drama is hackneyed in places. The special effects are lacking. The music reuses themes from Star Trek: TMP making me think of a movie with a very different tone. But with all that, it's at least earnest and sincere.

I'm sorry, but "Please Captain, not in front of the Klingons" is a banger line.

I'd forgotten how much of a role the Klingons play in Star Trek V. It actually makes Star Trek VI, an already good movie, better.

I like the idea that, in the future, we said "fuck it" to increasingly higher resolutions and frame rates and decided that wire frames and text are the way to go.

I've often, in my life, mocked the line "What does God need with a starship?" It's a good line, but it just didn't resonate with all the other times I've seen this movie. But I read on Wikipedia that V was supposed to be commentary on televangelists, and I see that theme clearly in the movie.

Star Trek V has a lot of problems, but the core idea, that there's a powerful charlatan at the center of the universe who convinces a hippie that he's god is pretty on point and very Star Trek.

I wonder if Star Trek Discovery ever gets around to addressing Sybok? His mother was a Vulcan princess? It's amazing no one got around to elaborating on that.
