Why are we still bankrolling outdated fossil fuels? #fundthefuture

I lived the Australian 2019/20 mega-fires and I really did think it was going to change everything - I was wrong. Australia, five years later, is the second largest exporter of climate pollution in the world.

Yesterday, members of DEA spoke in Parliament about the long-term health and environmental risks of nuclear energy. Nuclear energy has no place in Australia’s energy transition- it's too slow, too expensive and will trap us into prolonging our dependency on fossil fuels. Read more ⬇️

The Thug… no policies, just fear and loathing.

Research shows that we base our perception of ‘normal weather’ on what we’ve experienced in the last 2-8 years. So we forget what was ‘normal’ before that period and keep resetting our baseline of normal. We all know what happened to that frog. 🎧 bit.ly/4jy5uiH

Superb.

‘We’re the Millers’ is a darkly ridiculous movie from 2013 about bad debts and double-dealing desperados. It’s a good film, but it’s not as funny as Australia’s policies on the exploitation our national resources by foreign companies. #election2025 #auspol #insiders

Your 'bonus moment of doom' for today. "If many climate-watchers expected the world to cool slightly this year thanks to the natural “La Niña” phenomena, the climate itself didn’t seem to get the memo." theconversation.com/record-janua...

It is easy to blame fossil fuel companies for global warming. They lied frequently and have no interest in stopping. But after decades of warnings, everyone should know better by now. The sluggish energy transition is on all of us and our chosen political leaders.

Labor and the Libs can lobby UNESCO all they want to not list the GBR as ‘in danger’ but it doesn’t change the fact that their Future Gas Strategy/Gas Led Recovery & expansion of fossil fuel industry will ensure the death of the reef in our children’s lifetimes 😪 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Sentencing a doctor to a year in prison for standing against fossil fuels shows just how upside-down our world is. Dr. Patrick Hart acted out of a duty of care - as a doctor - and as a human being. Article: https://buff.ly/4awXn1t

Not only do we basically give our gas away for free, we don’t even keep enough for our own use 🤯 It’s just inconceivable that 🇦🇺 as one of the biggest LNG exporters will now start importing. The major parties have failed us. www.afr.com/companies/en...

Treat the Coalition’s nuclear policy as what it is. A distraction.
