My son gets to meet my mom today and I couldn't be more thrilled. A month before I met my wife, she gently said, maybe you should consider dating women with families. Not that I wasn't considering them. But she wanted to point out I wasn't getting younger. And she wanted grandchildren.

I worked with USAID in Afghanistan. A couple of their guys got on birds to go out to Nangarhar when the engineering COL at USFOR-A wouldn't let their MIL personnel go (which was the fucking craziest thing I've ever heard in a supposed war zone.) Don't be so quick to criticize.

This time last month, US and other western SOF advisors were fighting ISIS on the ground in the Hamrin Mountains alongside Iraqi partners. CENTCOM announced that 1 non-US advisor was killed and 2 more were wounded. What nations were they from? I’ve seen no French or British KIA/WIA announcements.
