Resolving to bring the term “bog-standard” into more frequent use here in the US.

Ugh, this constant malaise continues: muscles feeling weak and achy again, generally tired, and easily distracted. Got a doctor appt in a few weeks, but getting to it is feeling more and more like one of Hercules’ labors. Hoping it’s not my thyroid gone bonkers again!

One day in, and I am already unsure how I lived without @pureref.bsky.social ! Best feature so far is the ability to side-by-side with #SubstanceDesigner while I build textures. Add more captures, sample colors, zoom and pan, etc. Soooooo helpful!

One of the mini-learnings from the #SubstanceDesigner tutorials that I am so glad I absorbed is: --> use those dot nodes <-- Using a dot node to "teleport" a link across your graph and keep things clean (no spaghetti connections) feels so satisfying!

Okay, fiddled with my shake roof #SubstanceDesigner graph a little more. Think I'm done for now as a warmup/practice. Fixed: - colors pulled from reference photo - lichen a little more random and subtle now - graph a lot cleaner Always be improving! #IndieDev #SoloDev 1/2

A legendary classic returns in an all-new deluxe edition from Fantasia Games! gamefound.com/en/projects/...

Making some weathered, lichen-splotched roof shakes today in #SubstanceDesigner to try to learn more about tiling in textures. #IndieDev #SoloDev

A thing I am realizing: The Breda University of Applied Sciences cranks out some talented game artists, designers, and other talent.

Just snagged @pureref.bsky.social after seeing it pop up in a second video I was watching. Stoked to start collecting all my #reference in one place and make use of some of their other features. #IndieDev #SoloDev #Blender3D #Unity3D

Made a catapult—with some extremely limited materials—with the child this morning for his physics class. Happy to report it dominates, beating full credit distance by 71%!!! Taking the rest of the week off. (Deets in the alt text)

The wild husky had his breakfast al fresco this morning after a long walk and playtime with a new pup friend and now is absolutely out!

Everything about this story is amazing, but the person who tapes four sheets of paper together as Infinite Fax Retribution (TM) is a f’ing genius. www.npr.org/2025/06/17/n... Reminds me of this GIF

Cleaning up some bottles I can use for potions at Halloween this year. #Halloweek #Halloweek2025

Pretty sure plenty of folks, myself included, have mentioned how LLMs and GenAI cannot reason, draw new conclusions, etc. but I guess when 🍎 says it, people listen.

Oh, also made progress on the shelves / backdrop for the office / #DevLog studio over the weekend, as I got healthy again.

Déjà vu all over again: After last weekend's cold carrying over into most of last week, starting off #Blender + #SubstancePainter mid-level learning with the obligatory hand-painted rock model. Here goes nuthin! #IndieDev #SoloDev

Now we can mainline “truth” right to our base. Success!

Today is my birthday so It would mean a lot of y'all shared my art :) 🫶

Choose the form of the Destructor!

I was going to say a thing in this quote post, but that’d ruin it. iykyk What a treat; cannot stop laughing!

Been sick since Monday, so very little progress on game dev. I’m so anxious to model things though, so it has been super frustrating. Switching gears today to paint the back wall of my work room and hang shelves so I can clean up. Also, maybe some upcycled glam for vlog/devlog recording.

The second grader in me cannot stop giggling at the term “anti-dumping duty.” one.npr.org/i/nx-s1-5425...

Seattle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday: "Help me, I'm melting!" Seattle on Thursday: "Cool, summer's over. Hope you didn't put those winter coats into storage!"

You ever find an artist's work in the wild and are like: "Wow! Oooh! This work is great!" "How have I never known of this person?!" "I must share with everyone! They will be so amazed!!!" Then you find out how long they've been a thing and it's you that's been living under a rock.
