I'm working on my own website again as part of this trend... But it also feels like a very siloed phenomenon. Most of my friends are not Tech People, and they have no interest in just rolling their own site - they're looking at how to give up the web as much as possible instead.

chrome needs to update on its return, my tabs: gone smile, free from their weight

And (I say this as a hardcore meditator) endless stark meditation retreats and EEG headsets are not a substitute for real spiritual practice, which is always based in community, and insufficient as supports for the psychedelic experience.

I went snowbell huntin' yesterday. It's sprung, y'all #photography #fujifilm #naturephotography

Oh how fun: I've decided to do a listening project focused on all the symphonies for a given composer, and I'm starting with Beethoven. I just found this podcast that has a whole series on his symphs (special lingo for those in the know). stickynotespodcast.libsyn.com/size/5/?sear...

The designers on my team have started marking up their figma files with alt text and notes for screen reader UX and I couldn't be more proud 😭😭😭

Friendly reminder that I shared *an extensive* guide to ARIA live regions so you can learn more about: - what they are - what to use them for - how to use them - what *not* to use them for (!important) Part 1: www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessi... Part 2: www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessi... #a11y

Accessibility is anti-fascist. You can do a lot by literally just adding alt text.

Praise be!!! Finally there's an easier way to get into Reading Mode in Chrome!!!

I was thinking about AI for, say writing, or coding. I was trying to answer, "why not use AI?" and it has to do with what learning a skill does to you. When we learn a skill, we create new pathways in our brain, reinforcing them repeatedly until, with mastery, the skill becomes effortless.

My brain is just absolutely buzzing as I finish up this presentation I'm doing on how screen reader users experience the web. I'm learning things I didn't know before, and I'm so excited to share it.

I feel like the more senior I get the more time I spend on tiny little things I used to think were just bike shedding... because I have more experience making decisions that turned out to be Bad Ideas later

Neat little article about youtube's new core brand colour! design.google/library/yout...

Just some short thoughts on how people get defensive when talking about accessibility (in blog form, instead of a thread! go me!) heather-buchel.com/blog/2025/02...

I love learning about new (to me) #a11y things. Today's deep dive was the roles `tab`, `tablist`, and `tabpanel`. So interesting! I might do a little blog post writeup about them.

The only topic of conversation in the office today is this insane trade war. Such a shame that these times are happening when I'm otherwise the happiest I've ever been.

If I have a good, or even passable, exchange with a customer service person, darn-tootin' I'm doing that satisfaction survey. I absolutely want my glowing comments brought up in their performance review. Almost never when I have a bad experience. Feels like solidarity. ✊

I did an intro workshop at a zen centre in town, and I really liked it. It was a great space, very clean, pristine, and had the warm but reverential vibe I loved at the insight meditation society. I just wish they were closer - they're on the other side of downtown from me.

(Tiny Tim voice) God bless us, everyone. defector.com/the-2024-hat...

Counting down the days until @defector.bsky.social and @drewmagary.bsky.social put out the Hater's Guide to the Williams Sonoma catalogue, and christmas REALLY starts.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Trying to help Toronto tech folks find eachother on Bluesky, so put together this starter pack. If I'm missing folks / you, let me know in the replies. go.bsky.app/PX1gyu6

I love how when family members ask my advice on what tech item they should buy, I usually just send them whatever wirecutter recommends at their price point.
